The Kemetic Community mourns the loss of one of our Master Kemetic Teachers, Brother Heru Da-vid. He was a lifelong apprentice of Baaba Heru at the Studio of Ptah assisting in crafting all the cultural jewelry. He taught the Metu Neter portion of Khamitics 101. He was highly intelligent with jokes to match and loved to eat! He will be sorely missed on the earth plane. He was an elder brother to many of the Divine Sacred Kingman at the Smai Tawi Heal Thyself Center in Bklyn, NY. We are so glad Priestess Anika & Priest Jabari was able to capture an interview with him on their internet show. It is definitely the Heru Da-Vid that we all remember!

About the Practitioner:
Having been exposed to many avenues of optimal health since the early 1970s through non-meat consumption, herbs for everyday medicinal use, miles of walking in New York City, and generally keeping somewhat fit, it was only “natural” to begin formal training in the “Natural Realm” after developing an ever-growing interest in helping others. But actually, things came together for me some decades later. Years in the corporate realm: Int’l Banking, Commodities, Wall Street, Maritime, and other entities only increased the desire to learn and help others, as the helter-skelter world of business was and is very often a major cause of derangements in our personal health, all of which of course adversely affect our families as well. I have witnessed much tragedy, but also much good in seeing individuals turn their health and lives around.
It was in this regard that a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Health, followed by a Doctor of Naturopathy was of paramount importance to me. That said, I am in reality a teacher: one charged with discussing lifestyle issues, and so many of the everyday realities that in fact impact negatively on our well-being. I do not “diagnose” or “treat”, and do not seek to provide those services that one should discuss with their Medical Doctor. My view is that much that is harmful to us from day to day is in fact sometimes discussed by MD’s, but it is my full-time avocation: Right Living, recognizing the stresses in life and making those changes that may enhance our quality of Life, bring personal joy and even enhance our ability to develop and maintain success in School, Business, and most importantly: Family. As Ayurveda is a documented and proven system of health and well-being, I am also a Certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant.

About the Practitioner:
As a young lady, I would find myself providing friends and family with neck and shoulder massages and sometimes even treating them to a body massage when they were feeling a bit run down. I never trained in Massage Therapy, but I always got rave reviews and never had a complaint. Little did I know at the time, that that process was something that you should have training for. As time marched on and I grew older, I wanted to get training but never carved out the time to do so. But the one thing that stuck with me is that I truly have healing hands.
Fast forward a few years when I was a single mother to my daughter, Brittany, and from time to time she would experience an upset stomach. To relieve her of her aches, I would rub my hands together and lay them on her providing extra warmth to her skin and extending the healthy energy that emanated from me to her. I would also rub her tummy in a circular motion to give her a comforting feeling. Once again, I realized that I have a healing power within me.
I had no idea that what I was doing was applying Reiki to her, but many moons later this is what I realized. Now knowing that I, and anyone else, for that matter can do this to assist in someone’s dis-ease, I decided to get certified in Reiki so that I can help more than just family and friends with their issues. By no means am I a doctor. If you have an ailment, you should see a doctor at once to address it. After doing so, then you may reach out to me.
What I offer, is an opportunity to open and cleanse your energy pathways to help you with being whole with a holistic delivery. Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, or not touching at all, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
I am trained as a Reiki Master under the Usui/Holy Fire III under William Lee Rand’s lineage; taught directly from my Reiki teacher Beth Wishbow.

Mwt LaTrella Thornton has been involved in natural healing for over 45 years. This 3-day workshop / retreat is now being offered as a 9-week Rites of Passage program for women. Red Feather Wellness utilizes ancient African principles and traditions to honor the beauty, strength, and sacredness of a woman by reintroducing her to Herself. This online circle will consist of no more than (9) women.
During each consecutive week, we will holistically explore and discuss one of seven major areas of our lives along with doing weekly self-exploration assignments and exercises to help you balance and realign your thinking, choices, and behaviors. Each session will assist you with receiving clarity on certain matters in your life by embracing honesty and accountability, and by practicing forgiveness and gratitude.
In addition, you will also receive a package with extra special supplies /materials to assist you on your spiritual journey, which will be mailed to you.
As you go through your conception, growth, labor, and rebirthing process, you will be guided by me, Shemset Ra (Rhoena), your spiritual midwife, as well as three guest facilitators or “birth attendants”. Our first guest will educate us on ‘gut health’ as an introduction to your week of cleansing and detoxing as you continue on this particular journey. Our second guest will speak on the importance of finding, owning, and using your voice to speak your truth while honoring your own personal values and self-worth. Our journey will conclude during an in-person group Purification, Rebirthing, and Blossoming ceremony. This ceremony will be co-facilitated by our third guest and facilitator who is also a traditional Ceremonial Woman and a certified/licensed midwife.
Due to the high expectations, privacy, and sensitivity of subject matters, participation in this program will include attending a mandatory online orientation session to answer any questions that you may have, and to explain more in depth what this program is, and what it is not. A follow up individual call will also help the facilitator and participant in determining how this program can personally benefit the participant and further determine if this is an appropriate path for you at this time.

In our system of Yoga there are two primary aspects.
- The YogaSkills Method or YSM. This refers to our overall philosophy and practice of Yoga.
- Kemetic Yoga refers to those specific uniquely Kemetic philosophies, symbols, movements, postures and other practices.
YSM informs all aspects of our practice as professional Yoga instructors. YSM is first a philosophy that states that there are certain skills that you should obtain from your practice that are transferable to all aspects of your life. These include but are not limited to focus, concentration, patience, self control, persistence, self love, consistency, single mindedness, purposefulness, etc. These are all skills that one learns that can be applied to all aspects of your personal, professional and spiritual life.
These YogaSkills are the result of practicing Yoga using the techniques of YSM. The techniques are
- RULE OF FOUR BREATHING
- GEOMETRIC PROGRESSION
In order to practice Yoga using these techniques YOU MUST slow down your thoughts and become MINDFUL. In this way you are incorporating the BEST PRACTICES OF YOGA no matter what the origin of the movements and postures you are performing or what population you are teaching.
You should be able to open up any Yoga book by Iyengar, Satchidananda, Vishnudevananda, any Kemetic text or whoever and perform the postures and movements using these two techniques. When you practice Yoga using YSM, you should appear UNIQUE. Every Yoga system has it's own UNIQUE characteristics that distinguishes it from others. You should be able to immediately recognize someone doing Yoga using YSM whether they are perform Warrior Pose or Pose of Immortality. In the same way, a professional Yoga instructor should know his/her industry and be able to recognize the difference between the major systems of Yoga that are being practiced in the world other the Kemetic, i.e., Ashtanga, Iyengar, Bikram, Kundalini, Vinyasa or just basic Hatha.
A YogaSkills Method Kemetic Yoga teacher should be able to understand the practice scientifically and clinically and apply it to teaching any population whether they be senior citizens, children with special needs, professional athletes, substance abusers, those with PTSD or stock brokers in a major corporation.
Kemetic Yoga Refers to:
- The philosophy and worldview called Ma'at
- The Unique Movements and Postures in the Kemetic record on the walls of temples, ancient papyrus texts, etc.
- The Postures performed by the NTRU that are not found in any other system of Yoga from India, Asia, the Americas, etc.
- Using YSM
- Coming from the lineage of Dr. Asar Hapi and Yirser Ra Hotep

A BLACK LOVE DAY CALL TO ACTION TO COME TOGETHER IN THE NAME OF LOVE
to all Black Love Day Producers, Black Love Programmers, and Organizers/Interested Persons Who Want to Create a Black Love Day Event, Activity or Product
Nya Akoma is the greeting for Black Love Day, Feb. 13th. It means "be patient, get a heart and return to love" with the symbol of the Akoma (the heart) represented as the day's symbol. The Akoma is an Adinkra symbol of Ghanaian origin.
As the founder of Black Love Day (BLD) and the founder of the African American Holiday Association (AAHA) the organization that stewards BLD, I have been inspired to encourage all the Black Love Day organizers, event programmers, product developers and interested participants, to work together in 2022, collectively, under the concept "of unity in diversity" to build momentum for the 30th anniversary of Black Love Day, Feb. 13, in 2023.
BLACK LOVE DAY (BLD) is the 4th oldest commemorative African-American holiday (or wholyday) of observance, celebration, reconciliation, atonement and the demonstration of love, showing at least, 5 specific acts (Tenets) in 24 hours. The Tenets are: Love for the Creator, for Self, for Family, for the Black Community and the Race. Whites show "love in action" for Black people and inspect their own racial attitudes and behavior.
I, Ayo Handy-Kendi, the founder of Black Love Day, and the steward of this day through my non-profit AAHA was inspired by the Creator, while meditating, to create this concept in 1993. I am also the Author of the "Black Love Book, the definitive guide to the wholyday and anthology of Black Love". I.m so grateful for the growth of BLD, way beyond my imagination, however, I received a Spiritual message to put out a CALL TO ACTION TO COME TOGETHER IN THE NAME OF LOVE
BECAUSE OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS SO MUCH LOVE AND SUPPORT NOW, IN 2022, We really want to show solidarity and unity in our community, by promoting a collective calendar of ALL Black Love Day programs and activities. I.m. certain that through Ujima -collective work and responsibility- BLD efforts will build upon each other and we will make an even greater impact, at a time when Black Love is critical during these challenging times.
We have all of the 29th Official Black Love Day, 2022 themes, FLYER activities and press releases on the website, African American Holiday Association. The 29th year theme is "Finding Spiritual Joy Thru Black Love".

Dr. Kokayi will serve as the facilitator of these ten one hour intensives in which we will assist you in an inward journey aimed at helping you to have a fuller experience of the Multi-Dimensional Consciousness that you are: a Spiritual Being not limited to the conscious experience of the body and your present persona: expanding our individual and collective awareness so that in experiencing Life in these human forms we can make better choices, assisting not only our own Self-evolution but creating a field of Love and Peace that will resonate with such efforts being made around the world. Human beings must embrace a more elevated path of Being or go the way of the dinosaurs as a species. The lowered vibrational thinking and emotions that are constantly being brought into our sphere of awareness will be transformed by the power of an enlightened human species: from an inner Realization to an outer manifestation. As with the rising of the sun, each morning darkness yields to the light. As more people are willing to make the time to embrace a Higher aspect of Being the inner architecture of the world will change.
This is a non-denomination meditative experience that will draw on the wisdom systems of religions and cultures from around the world, both present-day and in antiquity. There have always been those in every culture who have been able to pierce the veil of limitation, smallness, and not-enoughness that the human condition creates, realizing what we are really capable of. It will certainly assist us to be informed by their wisdom and revelations. Directions for preparation for this experience will be found at kokayiohm post-registration as well as suggestions for a few items to pick up. These ten sessions will occur monthly, evolving as our experience dictates. As intimated there will be suggested readings and video presentations to go along with the meditation intensives. This experience is open to everyone but it is suggested that those with a psychiatric disorder that involves a thought disorder or schizophrenia not participate at this time.
