Mission Project Reports

Scripture Lesson
Philippians 2:1-5

This Sunday
This Sunday will be one worship service at 10:00am and it will be a follow-up to last week's Mission Sunday.  I will admit that last Sunday was a bit overwhelming as I walked from project to project, at least those taking place at the church.  There was a spirit of joy that was contagious, an overall spirit of "team" that was well beyond my expectations when dreaming up this crazy idea, and a spirit of mission that defined the day.  Yet not everyone was able to see the other projects, or even hear about what was done. Therefore, this Sunday will be a time where team members from each team talk about what they did, what they experienced, and how they felt their project contributed to our first Mission Sunday and to the work of Christ beyond our doors. It will be a kind of blended service with praise songs, hymns, and even some special music.  Also, come prepared to bless the Birthday Kits and "Days for Girls" kits, and to walk the property asking God's blessing on each of the outdoor projects.  Following our outdoor excursion will be a closing prayer and a good old-fashioned United Methodist potluck.  So bring food, bring that same spirit from last week, bring your stories, and your heart for worship.  To prepare please read again Philippians 2:1-5.

Pastor Brad
Mission Sunday Revisited & Potluck
Sunday, April 30 @ 10:00am
On April 30   we will again have only one service but at 10:00am to review and celebrate our Mission Sunday accomplishments followed by a potluck lunch.  For the potluck, p lease plan to bring a dish that will serve your family plus 3 to 5 more servings to share.  We need main dishes, sides, salads and desserts.  If you bring a hot dish, consider making it a crock pot dish that can be kept warm during service.  The timing of this meal puts it in the "brunch hour" so feel free to bring items that either are breakfast related or items that are more traditional.  In other words anything goes!  If you can help set up tables or help receive food that morning around 9:30am, please contact Colleen Olleman (425-746-1696 or  Plan to come and fellowship together as we give thanks for the gifts of service from the Aldersgate Community.
Spring Pastor's Class
It is not too late to join this short six-week class which started April 25 and runs thru May 31. Pastor Brad will offer perspectives, pictures, and realizations from his recent trip to the Holy Land.  The trip changed so much for Pastor Brad in regards to his understanding of Jesus, the Bible, his focus, God's work, and our role in the world.  Pastor Brad will be utilizing a few resources.  One is Philip Yancey's book, "The Jesus I Never Knew."  Another is a new book regarding the newest research around the development of the scriptures.  If you've wanted to attend one of Pastor Brad's classes but didn't have time, maybe this class will fit into your schedule.  It's shorter in duration and like the others meets on Wednesdays at 10:00am and 7:00pm; same class at two different times.  All are welcome.
Calling All Grads!
We  will be celebrating Aldersgate's graduating seniors (high school and college) during worship on June 11.  Please send us the graduate's picture along with a brief description of their accomplishments, future plans and the school graduating from as listed on the back of Sunday's attendance form.  Please get this information to Jen Hoerber by May 31 so they can each be highlighted in a special bulletin insert.
Resource Library News
Please click here for a book review of "The Shack" by William Paul Young (call number '813 You').
Handbell Tables
We ask everyone to please refrain from setting your belongings on the handbell tables in the sanctuary.  The reason is important.  Bells need to be kept very clean.  Certain things (food, drinks, etc.) are highly corrosive to the bells.  They will become damaged and out of tune due to continual contamination. Please take this request seriously.  Handbells are very expensive to replace.
