This Sunday
These next two Sundays are all about the third word in our mission statement: Service.  This Sunday, on April 23, we will meet for one worship service at 9:00am in the sanctuary for some singing, praying and a blessing before we head out to serve the community and world.  We already have 100 (plus) signed up for specific mission projects.  If you have yet to sign up, not to worry.  There is plenty of service opportunities to go around.  Come and be a part of it.  Lunch will be provided.
Then a week from Sunday, on April 30, we will be celebrating the service we were able to provide, with one worship service at 10:00am that will have pictures, testimonies, and finally a blessing  over the birthday kits, the Days for Girls kits, the gazebo project, the motor home washing, the future GaGa pit, the clean up, and other areas of work.  It will be a fun and meaningful Sunday morning.  If it 's raining, come with umbrellas or rain coats.  Then plan to stay for an all church, good, old fashioned potluck following worship.  We'll continue the celebration over lunch.
Remember, it 's all about resurrection...from that amazing celebration on Easter Sunday, continuing through to Sunday April 23rd at 9:00am and our service projects, and the finale on Sunday April 30th and a joint 10:00am worship service of celebration, and a wonderful potluck to follow.  Can't wait for these next few weeks of being Aldersgate; a vibrant and inclusive Christian community growing in faith, love, health and service.
Stewardship Reminder
Thank you to those that have submitted their pledge card. If you have not had a chance to turn in your's yet, please do so by this  Sunday, April 23rd.  We ask that you prayerfully consider increasing your pledge this year so that we can hire a half-time Associate Pastor. We hope all those who call Aldersgate their church home will give so that we can fully fund all our ministries and grow in service to others. Please click here for the Pledge Card and either mail it or bring it to church at your earliest convenience.
Mission Sunday
April 23 @ 9:00am
This Sunday is Mission Sunday!  Have you signed for a project yet?
April 23rd at 9:00am, we will all gather for a short prayerful worship service before we head out to do our mission work.  The organized projects are as follows...

Sophia Way Patio Clean-Up
Washing of RV
Building a gazebo / starting on gaga pit
Days for Girls
Birthday Party Kits for Issaquah Food Bank
Grounds Clean-Up

If you would like to sign up before  Sunday morning (helps with lunch planning), please email Jen Hoerber at with your name, email, project request, and lunch preference (gluten-free, vegetarian, regular).

If you have signed up for a project, your project lead will be emailing you with any special instructions this week.  If you ordered a t-shirt, you will be able to pick those up on Sunday as well.

Please prepare with us as we intentionally pray for our community as we head into the next two weeks where we our focusing on mission work and reaching out.  There will be daily community prayers on our Facebook page.
Aldersgate T-shirts
If you ordered a T-Shirt it will arrive just in time for Mission Sunday! Expect to see your family's shirts on Sunday, April 23, with your name on them.  Payment can be made to the church or to Robbin Price at any time, either now, or after the shirts arrive. Please make your check out to Aldersgate, and note on the memo line that the money is for T-shirts. Thanks!
Handbell Tables
We ask everyone to please refrain from setting your belongings on the handbell tables in the sanctuary.  The reason is important.  Bells need to be kept very clean.  Certain things (food, drinks, etc.) are highly corrosive to the bells.  They will become damaged and out of tune due to continual contamination. Please take this request seriously.  Handbells are very expensive to replace.
Spring Pastor's Class
"Realizations in the Holy Land &  The Jesus I Thought I Knew"
Wednesday, April 26
In this somewhat short spring six-week session Pastor Brad will offer perspectives, pictures, and realizations from his recent trip to the Holy Land.  The trip changed so much for Pastor Brad in regards to his understanding of Jesus, the Bible, his focus, God's work, and our role in the world.  Pastor Brad will be utilizing a few resources.  One is Philip Yancey's book, "The Jesus I Never Knew."  Another is a new book regarding the newest research around the development of the scriptures.  If you've wanted to attend one of Pastor Brad's classes but didn't have time, maybe this class will fit into your schedule.  It's shorter in duration and like the others meets on Wednesdays at 10:00am and 7:00pm; same class at two different times.  All are welcome.
Mission Sunday Revisited & Potluck
Sunday, April 30 @ 10:00am
On April 30   we will again have only one service but at 10:00am to review and celebrate our Mission Sunday accomplishments followed by a potluck lunch.  For the potluck, p lease plan to bring a dish that will serve your family plus 3 to 5 more servings to share.  We need main dishes, sides, salads and desserts.  If you bring a hot dish, consider making it a crock pot dish that can be kept warm during service.  The timing of this meal puts it in the "brunch hour" so feel free to bring items that either are breakfast related or items that are more traditional.  In other words anything goes!  If you can help set up tables or help receive food that morning around 9:30am, please contact Colleen Olleman (425-746-1696 or  Plan to come and fellowship together as we give thanks for the gifts of service from the Aldersgate Community.

United Methodist Church Judicial Council Review

Siblings, Brothers, & Sisters in Christ,

Next week the UMC Judicial Council will review our Western Jurisdiction election of Mountain Sky Episcopal Area Bishop Karen Oliveto, an openly practicing and married lesbian.

The Western Jurisdiction in an 88-0-12 vote elected Bishop Karen finding in her life-long ministry "the fruit of the Spirit ... love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law..."
(Galatians 5:22-23)

They declared,  "We have seen the fruit of the Spirit through the ministry of Bishop Oliveto. She is our bishop and against these things there is 'no such law'!"

The JC is asked by the South Central Jurisdiction to consider among other things,  "What is the application, meaning and effect of 1304.3, 1310.2d, 1341.6, and 12702.1 (a), (b), and (d) in regard to the nomination, election, consecration and/or assignment as bishop of a person who claims to be a 'self-avowed practicing homosexual' or is a spouse in a same-sex marriage or civil union?"

A JC announcement may be made as early as April 25.  No matter the outcome, history is likely to be made and their decision must be guided by the Holy Spirit!

Let's be in prayer with the Mountain Sky Episcopal area:

Please be informed: Bishop Stanovsky has addressed this challenge in this email and information paper

I stand with my LBGTQ siblings who like me are born to love God and spread the Word!
