"Perspective of a Holy Land"

Psalm 37:3-7

This Sunday
This Sunday will be about perspective.  We will have just returned from the Holy Land and it is my hope to offer some of the perspectives from that trip.  There are things we can only learn if we truly willing to walk where Jesus walked, to see as Jesus saw and to take the actions he did.  As we continue in this time of Lent, it is my hope to share, not only my own perspective, but those of a few of the others on the trip.  I assure you, this will not be a travelogue.  It will be a meaningful opportunity to share how walking the land, seeing the hills, walking through the Via Dolorosa, spending time in the desert, has affected and influenced our souls.  I am not on this trip as simply a tourist.  This is a pilgrimage, whose timing could not be better.  Lent is its own pilgrimage. M y hope is that each of us, not just those on the trip, but each of us who call Aldersgate home, allow ourselves that space to listen to the still small voice of God, the whispers of God, and the redefining power that is God.    I look forward to sharing pieces of mine in Galilee, at the site of the baptism, in Jerusalem placing your prayers at the Wailing Wall, in the desert, and on the tip of Masada.  There is much to learn and much to do.  To prepare please read Psalm 37: 3 -7a, and remember that the phrase "God gives us the desires of our hearts" is not accurate.  If we are open, and recognize God for what God is, God will "shape" the desires of our hearts.  May it be so as we continue this time of Lent.
