"Realizations in the Holy Land"

"The Jesus I Thought I Knew"

Scripture Lesson
Mark 6:1-6

This Sunday
This Sunday we begin a new series titled, "Realizations in the Holy Land and the Jesus I Thought I Knew."  This first Sunday is an introduction.  It is, to some extent, a follow-up to last Tuesday's presentation by the team that visited these sacred sites.  For me, the personal list of realizations is long.  I'll be touching on a few as we venture through this series.  The Jesus I encountered in Israel is not the Jesus I heard about in Sunday school.  He is not the Jesus I learned about in seminary.  He is so much more; and so much more on so many levels.  I look forward to sharing some of those realizations with you.  Over the course of the study I'll be utilizing the scriptures, and a couple of additional books.  They include, "The Jesus I Never Knew" by Philip Yancey, and "Jesus - A Pilgrimage" by Father James Martin.  These are intriguing guides for us on so many levels; there will be more specifics regarding these in the weeks to come.  So this Sunday will be an overview, some of the more significant realizations from the trip, some ideas for additional studies, and what each of those mean for us as Christians living in the world today and for us as a church as we continue to seek to grow in faith, love, health and service.  To prepare please read Mark 6:1-6.

Pastor Brad

P.S.  Our first Mission Sunday and follow-up Sunday were a wonderful success; a gift to those receivers and those offering themselves in mission for others.  Thank you to everyone who participated, prayed or supported the efforts in any way.

One Service at 10:00am
Sunday, May 28
Due to the Mini Mission Trip to Camp Lazy F, there will be only one worship service here at Aldersgate on Sunday, May 28 at 10:00am since half the church will be away at camp.
Handbell Tables
We ask everyone to please refrain from setting your belongings on the handbell tables in the sanctuary.  The reason is important.  Bells need to be kept very clean.  Certain things (food, drinks, etc.) are highly corrosive to the bells.  They will become damaged and out of tune due to continual contamination. Please take this request seriously.  Handbells are very expensive to replace.
