Here's what's going on this week.
Solidarity Resolution Introduced
On Friday, in conjunction with 50 other cities around the country, Alderwoman Ingrassia and I will introduce the Muslim Solidarity Resolution of 2016 in support of
Muslim members of our community.
We put forth this statement for several reasons: to condemn violence and bigotry directed towards our Muslim friends and neighbors in the U.S.; to recognize the longtime history Muslims in our country and the many contributions they've made; and to celebrate the value of a pluralistic society.
I will share a link to the full resolution when it becomes available online next week. I hope you'll join me in standing up for tolerance, peace, diversity, and civil and human rights for all.
Gustine Repairs Now Underway
As you may have seen, crews are in the process of repairing Gustine Avenue. First, c
urb ramps will be replaced and made ADA-accessible. The next step will be re-paving. Finally, striped crosswalks will be added to improve visibility and pedestrian safety.
These improvements represent Phase 1 of the comprehensive traffic study I commissioned last year. You can find the traffic study summary and the final recommendations on my website.
New Community Guides Have Arrived
The Tower Grove Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation (TGNCDC) in partnership with STL Programs has created a new community resource guide and directory for the residents of Tower Grove South, Shaw, and Southwest Garden neighborhoods.
The beautiful, 80-page resource guide includes a comprehensive list maps, neighborhood association information, social services, local events, housing and historic district information, history, and much more.
Every resident will receive one at no cost--yours may already have arrived in the mail. For more information, please visit the TGNCDC website.
Poker Tournament to Support TGNCDC
The community guides are just one way the TGNCDC supports our neighborhood. I hope you'll help support the organization by signing up for their Texas Hold-Em Poker Tournament fundraiser.
The "All-In for Change" event will take place on September 24th from 5:30 PM to 11 PM at St. Margaret of Scotland on Flad. Attendees will also enjoy stand-up comedy, silent auctions, raffles, fun drinks and more.
Thanks for all you do to make the 15th Ward in St. Louis a wonderful place to call home. It's an honor to serve as your Alderwoman.
Sincerely,
The Honorable Megan-Ellyia Green Alderwoman, 15th Ward
