during Lent for Soup, Salad and presentations. There are sign-up sheets in the Narthex.
Enhancing Faith and Life: The Episcopal Church
"I have come that they might have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10)
Discover or marvel anew at the colors and characteristics which comprise the people and ways called Episcopalian... a faith tradition wherein 70% of its folk come from different religious backgrounds.
This series also offers preparation for confirmation or reception (the latter from another faith tradition) into the Episcopal Church, which we will celebrate at All Saints when Bishop Skirving joins us on April 18th.
Confirmation or reception is required for leadership such as Vestry or Lay Eucharistic ministry. Please contact Rev. Cindy if desiring to be confirmed or received. Come one and all to journey together through this Lenten series.
Sunday, March 1st
- First Sunday in Lent
Wednesday, March 4th- 6 - 8p Lenten Series: "Grounded in God"
In this first night of the Lenten Series Wayne Barry will help us see how human beings are born in God, and how believers organize themselves in groups (churches) that enhance living life in God.
Sunday, March 8th - Second Sunday in Lent
Wednesday, March 11th
-
6 - 8p Lenten Series:
"Groun
ded in History"
Why aren't we still Catholics? Why aren't we Baptists? Bob Riche will relate how the Church of England separated from the Catholic Church, followed a somewhat different path than the Reformation in other parts of Europe, spread across the world as the Anglican Community, and grew into The Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States.
Sunday, March 15th - Third Sunday in Lent
Wednesday, March 18th
- 6 - 8p Lenten Series: "Grounded in Prayer"
Bob Riche will talk about how the Church's life, mission, and spirituality are grounded in the Sunday Eucharistic gathering, and prayer experiences and communal practices rooted in the Book of Common Prayer.
Sunday, March 22nd - Fourth Sunday in Lent
6:00 p.m. - Spring Equinox Labyrinth Walk
The labyrinth is a walking meditation, stilling our mind and focusing our thoughts and feelings. Found in cathedrals, throughout Europe, Christian use of the labyrinth dates from the 4th century. All Saints Church began group labyrinth walks to celebrate the change of seasons some years ago when it constructed a labyrinth on the parish grounds.
Wednesday, March 25th-
6 - 8p Lenten Series:
"Grounded in Order: Polity and Governance"
The Rev. David Feyrer will explore how the Episcopal Church structures its decision-making and governance to advance mission in the world. With characteristics flowing from both Catholic and Protestant traditions, ministry leadership embraces both ordained and lay believers. John Westerhoff and Sharon Pearson describe our unique polity (i.e. - our political structure and organization) in "A People Called Episcopalians". Come and learn about how we govern ourselves and how our congregations actions interact with other parts of the Episcopal church and the world-wide Anglican Communion.
Sunday, March 29th - Fifth Sunday in Lent
Wednesday, April 1st - 6 - 8p Lenten Series: "Grounded in Grace: Sightings of the Future"
From 1st Century Jerusalem to 21st Century North Carolina and beyond, Brooks Sutton and Rev. Cindy will explore how our historic "middle way" and ecumenical/interfaith reach might expand and shape us in the years ahead. Our survey will likely include Presiding Bishop Curry's insights for the future of the "Episcopal Branch of the Jesus Movement", faith movements in Durham/Chapel Hill to Taize, France, and the world.
