"Notes from Above"

After a well-deserved summer hiatus, the All Saints' Choir will soon return for the 2023-2024 season. Tim & Kristin Smith enter their 12th year in Music Ministry, with Tim on the organ bench, Kristin on the podium, and both involved in planning and execution.

All Saints' has a lively and thriving musical tradition, with both "in house" talent and guest musicians regularly sharing their gifts with the church community. Most years, we present an Advent Service of Lessons & Carols and occasionally a sung Evening Service.

Choir rehearsals resume on Wednesday, August 23rd at 7:15-8:15 pm in the All Saints Choir Room in Sutherland Hall. If you harbour a secret inner "diva", please consider joining the choir. While it's great to "keep a song in your heart," you'll feel even better about sharing it with the All Saints community. An audition is not required. For more information, contact Kristin Smith (479-264-1351/[email protected]) or Tim Smith (479-264-1320/[email protected]).

ATU Involvement Fair August 21

Join us at the ATU Involvement fair on Monday August 21 from 6 pm to 8 pm. We hope to connect with students about what our college and young adult ministries have to offer and how we can help ATU students this year. If you're interested in helping please see Melissa or Lukas. We are also in need of embroidery string for friendship bracelets we're going to offer students.

Neighbors Table Update

Do you have empty egg cartons? Empty containers such as those from cottage cheese and yogurt? If you do, please bring them to the kitchen or the Food Ministry room in Sutherland Hall.

Also, we are now preparing “tent meals,” bagged meals of shelf stable food for those who have no source of refrigeration, or who come requesting food during the week. Much of this food comes from the food bank, but we are also prioritizing our Red Wagon donations for these meals. See the table in Shoemaker for some examples of the types of foods that go into tent meals.

This week our Central Presbyterian partners are preparing our meal. The menu is beef macaroni casserole, seasoned green beans, whole wheat bread, fresh fruit, protein snack bars, and truffles for dessert. We’ll plan to serve 175 guests. Much of this meal is prepared with food from the Arkansas Food Bank or has been donated. Loaves and Fishes will offer eggs purchased with proceeds from our quilt raffle. Thank you!!! to

everyone whose generosity makes this All Saints ministry possible.

We recently received a generous $2500 grant from the Arkansas Food Bank to purchase food bank food. Food from the food bank is included in every meal we serve. We are grateful to everyone who helps us keep in compliance with our State Laws for safe food handling, posted in the kitchen, so we can continue to receive this food.

We greatly appreciate your prayers as we consider serving our Neighbors Table meal inside again. We appreciate the many helpers who pray for us and contribute their time, talent, and treasure. If you would like to know more, or volunteer, please contact Charlie Tyrone, (479) 857-0480, [email protected].

Birthdays and Anniversaries

We pray for those who have birthdays this week: Bev Donner, Deborah Wilson, Sandy Wright, and Diane Yarbrough.

O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your servants as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For those celebrating an anniversary this week:

O gracious and everliving God, look mercifully upon your servants who come to renew the promises they have made to each other. Grant them your blessing, and assist them with your grace, that with true fidelity and steadfast love they may honor and keep their promises and vows; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Please let the office know if your birthday or anniversary has been missed, so that we may add the date to our records.
