(Greetings!
Please enjoy reading Jason’s story on his passion for antiques!

Jason Meyer had an interest in antiques from a young age. He recounts early memories of coaxing his grandmother into antique stores and she was not an antique collector at all!

His love for antiques flourished when he worked part-time for antique dealer Thomas Jolly where he began to learn the business. And this while holding a full-time management position at Saks Fifth Avenue!

Jason’s background is in luxury retail; mainly tableware, home décor and gifts. and accessories. He worked for Marshall Field’s on State Street during college while studying business and he fell in love with the home world professionally and fell personally in love with antiques. He also worked at Christofle in wholesale and is now Associate Director at Lalique on Oak Street where he sees many interiors helping clients to accessorize their homes.

One day in 2009, Jason stumbled into Antique Resources and purchased his first important piece. There, he learned from Richard about period antiques. Jason’s first piece, a George III server circa 1790. This was his first period piece and his favorite!
He then purchased eight shield back chairs and a longcase clock – all period George III circa 1790. He later added a Regency dining room table circa 1820 and French wall sconces circa 1920.The only item in the room Jason didn't buy from Antique Resources is the chandelier, which is not period George III, but was made in England circa 1900.
“The wood on these 18th century antiques just glows! Wood finishes will never be the same after the Industrial Revolution - the quality cannot be duplicated and is not available today at all," said Jason. "There is something that happens to wood only over time that makes it glow!

"I love to mix antiques with modern art and modern rugs," Jason continues. "You can hang a modern painting above any of these pieces and it looks great! It is so important to mix them!"

In his home, he plans to purchase modern art, window treatments and a rug that will also be contemporary.

"I want it to look eclectic overall, but with a Georgian/ English country house base."
Jason shares that he thought there would be more of a revival into antiques with the popular Netflix television series The Crown.

"If you love English antiques it's hard to avoid the auctions; particularly in the UK, but I still circle back to Antique Resources every six months and I presently have an eye on a rare dwarf breakfront to complete a space between the two sconces. You can buy a period piece at Antique Resources; the prices are reasonable and the value is there."
Over the past 4 years, Antique Resources has embraced the online world to purchase and deliver antiques from the comfort of your easy chair. But I am always happy to meet you face to face.
