Combining Loved Treasures
Greetings!
Many of our customers are passionate about art and so many of you have inquired about where to find art to display with your antiques.

At Antique Resources, we aim to create a community of artists and periodically demonstrate how their work is combined with antiques in creating treasured spaces in your homes and later in our newsletter.

One of our customers, Marcia Bogue has done just that with the work of talented artist Harry Agensky. Marcia has used several of Harry's pieces throughout her beautiful 1926 vintage condo.

"I discovered Antique Resources when I was looking for unique chandeliers for a 1920s vintage look," says Marcia Bogue, "The store struck me as a museum, there was so much. I selected the piece and they took it down and plugged it in for me. I appreciated the extra mile customer engagement. This was my first piece and I was impressed with so many papers that came with my purchase!"

When asked about how she was introduced to the art of Harry Agensky, Marcia describes how that she met Harry though his wife walking our dogs when they lived in Toronto.

Harry Agensky is an architect and one can see that influence in his "Totems" collection, which also have a home in Marcia Bogue's living room (see below.)
According to Agensky's website, early in his career Harry was convinced that the creative use of colour, design and art could contribute to an enhanced and uplifting living environment.

In pursuing that interrelation and synergy of art/ graphics/ architecture he received a Canada Council for the Arts Award to study what was then a new phenomenon - one he calls “Environmental Graphics”.
Cityscape # 3 from Agensky greets visitors from a shared foyer in this recent renovation, complemented with two 1920s wall sconces purchased from Antique Resources
If you have an artist to recommend whose work has blended well with your antiques from us, we are interested in telling your story.

We live in times that can use some levity. I create playful observational art that strives to uplift, amuse, evoke nostalgia - and elicit a smile. Introducing whimsy might obscure the effort and skill required to execute a piece, but as Coco Chanel said back in the 20’s, ‘A lot of serious work goes into successful frivolity’ .
- Harry Agensky
Some of Agensky's pieces look like they could belong in the Windy City, but were actually homegrown in Canada. Check out these two heartwarming pieces from his "Oddly Ordinary" collection.
