As I write this, I have been retired for a little over 2 hours. 2019 is going to be a year filled with handbells. The Raleigh Ringers are in concert near my sister's house the day after our family reunion in North Carolina. Better believe I'm going to that concert! I'm going to the Area 10 Conference for the first time this year. I'm hoping the Oregon Welcome Choir will accept a Montanan in its ranks. My husband noticed that National is in St. Louis this year - very near his family. So off to Saint Louie we are bound in July. And I am NOT going to miss Coppers Classic this year. Add directing our local choir and playing in another choir and it's going to be handbell heaven for me.
So shrug off the exhaustion of 'after Christmas' and check out all the spring events happening in Area 10. Spring 2019 promises to be a lot of fun.
I'll be starting on the new website this week. I would love to get lots of current photos of you, your ensembles, your logos, etc. to add spice and color to the website. Please send them to my
webmaster address.
Please feel free to contact me with suggestions for both the website and this newsletter. Contact information for all of the Area 10 Board are in the left sidebar of this newsletter. If you need information that was on the website, also contact me. I do have all the content of the old website that I can search for the information you want. Hopefully this will be a short and not too painful transition.
Please forward this newsletter to your choir members and to anyone else who would be interested in all the concerts and events. Encourage them to subscribe to the newsletter. Click "Join our mailing list" at the bottom of the left column. With permission, I can also add names and addresses.

Notes from the Chair
Happy New Year!
Yes, by the time you read this the holiday concerts, Christmas services, long rehearsals, etc. will be in the past and you'll be thinking about a short time off the pressure until Easter looms. Some of you will be thinking about a short vacation, even perhaps packing warm weather clothes for a trip south. I know that some of you reading this, are preparing for a cruise to the Panama Canal with Bells of the Cascades and clinician Cathy Moklebust. Bon Voyage!
But for me, the word of the month for January is ELECTION. Yes, we've finally got the required number of candidates on the ballot and all the other things in place to have an election. Ballots have been mailed to all individuals and organizations who have a full membership (includes Retired) in the national guild, Handbell Musicians of America. At this time we need to elect a Chair-Elect and a Treasurer and we have 4 excellent candidates:
Chair-Elect candidates - Barb Silvey of Spokane, WA
John Sparkman of Kirkland, WA
Treasurer candidates - Kylie Johnson of Vancouver, WA
Janice Brown of Idaho Fall, ID
The mailed ballot package includes a sheet with biographical information about each candidate. Please, when your ballot arrives, take a moment to read the bio sheet, mark your ballot and mail it in.
To be counted in the election, ballots must be returned with a postmark of Jan 15, 2019 or earlier.
Thanks for your participation,
Glen
