I'm sure many choirs have concerts coming up in December. It would be nice to have them included in the December issue of The Northwest Campanologist. Simply send me the basic information - day, date, time, location, admission charge - and I will get it in. Then support other groups in your area by attending their concert!

Does your family need ideas for what to give you for Christmas? How about registration to one of the many events coming up this spring and summer? They are described in the articles below.

Please forward this newsletter to your choir members and to anyone else who would be interested in all the concerts and events. Encourage them to subscribe to the newsletter. Click "Join our mailing list" at the bottom of the left column or click the newsletter link on our website, With permission, I can also add names and addresses.

Notes from the Chair ...
Elections, elections, elections - they are in front of us everywhere currently, aren't they?  No matter what our political leanings, it seems we can't get away from the barrage of ads, mailers and phone calls this time of year.  And what have I done?  I've put one more on your plate!

If you are a voting member of Area 10, you should have received a ballot for officer elections in the past week.  Please don't let it get buried in the shuffle.  Your input into these elections is so very important.  We have a great slate of officers running for your chair elect and secretary.  These people will be serving on the board for 6 years in the case of chair elect, and 4 years in the case of secretary.  We want the membership to have input into those filling these long-term positions - that is why they are elected, not appointed positions.  Please take the time to fill out your ballot and mail it in by November 4.

In other news, I attended a fabulous event a couple of weeks ago.  Coppers Classic, held in Vancouver, WA, is an event for copper ringers wanting to push themselves and increase their skill level.  Ellie Hodder worked us hard over the three days of rehearsals with challenging repertoire and a drive toward excellence.  I know I was sore when I came home!  We had a wonderful audience to play for Sunday afternoon.  However, something else really special happened over the weekend.   Through free will offerings from the ringers and the audience, a fund was built to offer several scholarships for this event for next year.  The right to pick a piece for next year's repertoire was auctioned off, and that money went into the fund as well.  It was such a blessing to see ringers giving all that they could to ensure that others will have the opportunity to be a part of this great event in the future.

Imagine you are all getting rolling on Christmas music soon - more on that next month!
Diane Hould

NE Seattle area 5th grade looking for handbell director

director needed
I'm a retired music teacher who is volunteering my time to a Seattle grade school, (Bryant) where I conduct an English Handbell Choir. There is another school, Sacajawea, in Northeast Seattle that has 3 octaves of Schulmerich handbells but no conductor. I'm trying to help the principal locate a person who loves to work with 5th grade beginning ringers for this school year. The money is not good but the joy of introducing and performing with these children is priceless. If you would be interested or know someone who is capable and would love to "give back" to others the joy of ringing, please contact me.
