Dear Neighbor:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know that mammograms are covered by insurance in NYS? Women between 35-39 can receive a baseline mammogram fully covered, and women aged 40 and older are covered for an annual check. There are even programs that don't require a co-pay. If you have any questions about women’s health services you can always reach out to my office and we can connect you with the best program.

Make sure to check out the bottom of this newsletter for information on this year's Mammoween hosted by St. John's Medical Group!

Picture of the Week

We had a great turnout at our SCRIE application assistance event! It's my pleasure to help ease the financial burden of our seniors!

26th Annual New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony

It was an honor to speak at the 26th Annual New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony. The Fallen Firefighters Memorial, located outside the State Capitol building, honors the men and women of the fire service who have perished in the line of duty in New York since 1811. We will never forget their sacrifice, may their memories be a blessing.

Bayswater Park Fall Festival

It was great to see all the families enjoying the animals, food, and the pumpkin patch at the Fall Festival at Bayswater Park this week! I always love events like these that bring the community together, bonus points for the furry friends!

Far Rockaway Library Tour

I can’t describe the feeling I had walking into the brand new Queens Library-Far Rockaway Branch. Libraries are one of those quintessential community resources and having grown up in Far Rockaway this is such a heartwarming moment to be a part of. It was my honor to play a role in this redevelopment and I am excited for the eager minds that will take advantage of this beautiful and invaluable resource!

Come and Show Support for Mammoween!

In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, St. John's Episcopal Hospital is hosting an event on October 27 called Mammoween! I am so excited for this event, as Mammograms are so important for the early detection and prevention of Breast Cancer. Even if you opt out of receiving a Mammogram, come anyways! This event will not only be informative, but it will be fun!
