The Lost Book of Moses: The Hunt for The World's Oldest Bible
Limited seating, reservations required
Light refreshments

In 1883, Moses Wilhelm Shapira, archaeological treasure hunter and Jerusalem merchant, arrived in London, claiming to have discovered the world's oldest Bible scroll. However, French archaeologist Charles Clermont-Ganneau denounced his manuscripts as fake. Humiliated and distraught, Shapira fled the country. Six months later he was dead. In 1947, noting the similarities between the Dead Sea Scrolls and the ones Shapira found, investigators re-opened the case and discovered Shapira's scrolls had vanished.

Tigay, a longtime journalist and son of a Bible scholar, set out to find the scrolls and determine Shapira's guilt or innocence. Sponsored by: B'nai Jeshurun Congregation through the generosity of the Weingold Family. Click here to register or (216) 593-6248. Free.
