April is National Fair Housing Month

The City of Bowling Green celebrates National Fair Housing Month in April and proclaims endorsement and commitment to the policy of fair and equal access to housing. The Fair Housing Act was signed into law on April 11, 1968, one week after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Act prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, or disability.

The City encourages community members to acquaint themselves with their rights protected by law and to join in reaffirming a commitment to fair housing for all. Throughout the year, the public can find information shared by the City of Bowling Green that helps citizens know their rights under the Fair Housing Act and how to seek assistance with Fair Housing matters. Those interested in this info can find flyers at the City Administrative Services Building, advertisements in local media and posts from the City social media accounts...Continue Reading Fair Housing
