2024 Leaf Collection - Final Round Began Week of December 2nd!

NOTE: This will be the final leaf collection for 2024. Once the crews leave a street, they will not return.

A LEAF COLLECTION MAP has been posted to the City’s website allowing residents to follow crews as they move through the City:

If you choose to use this method, please follow LEAF COLLECTION GUIDELINES.

Questions may be directed to the Public Works Department by calling 419-354-6227.

Love 'Em and Leave 'Em

Keep Your Leaves!

Fall leaves are a valuable resource that most home-owners let go to waste by having them blown or raked into piles curbside, left for City pickup. Leaf collection, hauling, and disposal are a huge annual cost to our City! In addition, the nutrients in the leaves are lost instead of being returned to nourish the soil and the grass or plants that grow on your property.

The best thing you can do with your leaves is… Leave them on your property!

  • Shred them with a lawn mower and leave them in place on your lawn.
  • Compost them in a pile or container (with or without shredding).
  • Shred them and use them as mulch on your borders and flowerbeds.

City Yard Waste Drop Off Site

Tarragon Drive

Garden/Yard Waste/Grass/Leaves can be taken to the City Yard Waste drop-off site for those who are eligible to receive City refuse collection.

Open daily from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM.

The site is located behind the Public Works garage on Tarragon Drive (off of E. Poe Road). This site does NOT accept brush (anything with a bark covering).

Mailboxes &

Snow Removal

Mailbox Preparedness Check: Residents are asked to check their mailbox alongside the roadway to ensure it will be sturdy enough to handle winter weather and roadway snow removal operations. Check the mailbox for rotten or leaning posts, cracked sections or overall poor conditions that need attention. This will help the mailbox withstand snow or ice being removed from the roadway.

If a properly positioned mailbox, (usually 6-8″ behind the face of curb or edge of pavement) meeting United States Postal Service requirements, is struck by City snow removal equipment due to non-weather related causes, the City will either repair or replace the mailbox. The City shall not pay more than a maximum rate for a

replacement. The City

reserves the right to make a determination on a case by case basis.

The City is not responsible for damage to mailboxes located in the City right-of-way which are damaged as a result of snow and/or ice or any other object dispersed from the snow plow blade during street clearing of snow by City crews....Continue Reading Mailboxes

Recycling Reminder:

Packaging Material

Ordering online? All that new "stuff" is going to arrive wrapped in packaging. An increase in online shopping has lead to a huge increase in the amount of cardboard and packaging material we use. Not all of it recyclable and not all of it accepted in the City's Curbside Recycling Program.

Cardboard Boxes and Paper Board Packaging may be recycled curbside. Flatten boxes to save space. Large boxes or quantities can also be recycled at any of the local recycling drop off locations. Please remove all Styrofoam, plastic, and packaging material from boxes.

Styrofoam is NOT accepted in the City's recycling program. Please remove from your boxes and discard with your garbage.

Plastic Shipping Envelopes are NOT accepted in the City's recycling program. Please discard with your garbage or remove the shipping label and recycle with your other film plastic at area film plastic drop off locations (Kroger, Walmart, Meijer).

Bubble Wrap & Plastic Air Pillows are NOT accepted in the City's recycling program. Please discard with your garbage, save for future packaging needs, or recycle with your other film plastic at area film plastic drop off locations (Kroger, Walmart, Meijer).

Padded/Lined Envelopes

Amazon's paper envelopes (marked recyclable) are accepted in the City's recycling program. The older, yellow envelopes, lined with plastic bubble wrap, are not recyclable and should be discarded with your garbage.
