BG Boom Community Festival & Fireworks

The City of Bowling Green, Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Visit BG Ohio, Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association and the Wood County Agricultural Society present the return of the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks 4-9 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2026!

Join us at the Wood County Fairgrounds for a fun day of festivities and fireworks celebrating America’s 250th birthday! Enjoy a picnic, local food trucks and games for all ages.

The festival includes free inflatables and activities hosted by local organizations. As night falls, gather for an unforgettable 30-minute fireworks display visible from around the fairgrounds.

Community Fireworks Display – Road Closures

In conjunction with the Community Fireworks Display on July 3, temporary road closures and altered traffic patterns will be implemented.

Following the show, traffic exiting onto Brim Road will be directed either north or south by police officers. As visitors are leaving the Fairgrounds, Poe Road, from Brim to Haskins, will be closed and police officers will be present to help direct traffic. Those parking in the Poe Rd. Parking Lot will be directed to exit onto Haskins Rd. and will not be permitted to exit onto Poe Rd.

Fireworks are NOT Permitted in City

The City of Bowling Green has had a longstanding Ordinance banning the sale of and discharge of fireworks. Despite the state law, passed in 2022, it is still illegal to discharge or shoot off consumer-grade fireworks in the City of Bowling Green.

Please note: State law does NOT supersede the City’s local law.

“The safety of our residents and the prevention of fire is our top priority,” said Bowling Green Fire Chief Bill Moorman. “Fireworks can be very dangerous and should be left to the professionals.”

Residents are encouraged to review Ordinance 93.40. Ignoring this Ordinance could result in a citation.

Bowling Green Part of Wood County’s New Emergency Alert System

Those who live, work or regularly visit the City of Bowling Green can receive emergency notifications with the new Wood County Alert system, powered by Everbridge. Similar to CodeRED, the City and County will use this system to communicate with the public during critical events, including severe weather, fires, electrical outages and other safety alerts, to more routine announcements. Users can choose how they prefer to be contacted, including by text message, phone call, email or a mobile app.

The new system replaces the previous emergency notification platform, CodeRED. It is important to note that prior registrations for CodeRed will not transfer, and all users will need to create a new account to receive alerts.
