Hi Bayside Families,
We have some news regarding reopening plans. Please find the superintendent’s reopening update here. You should have received this message from Dr. Rosas in an email from our district earlier today. In summary, the San Mateo-Foster City School District Board of Trustees have decided to postpone the reopening of school until San Mateo County is back in the red tier regarding Covid 19. Once we are in the red tier, there will be up to a two week period of time to finalize preparations for the return of elementary and SDC students.
This Board direction means that elementary and SDC students will NOT change classes or teachers on January 19, 2021 as originally planned.
Additionally, the Board of Trustees directed staff to continue to work on a Wednesday plan for middle school students and to also bring forth possible middle school Hybrid Models for Board consideration. We will provide any additional updates to you as we learn more.

Tenemos algunas noticias sobre los planes de reapertura. Encuentre la actualización de reapertura de la superintendente aquí. En resumen, la Junta de Fideicomisarios del Distrito Escolar de San Mateo-Foster City han decidido posponer la reapertura de la escuela hasta que el Condado de San Mateo vuelva al nivel rojo con respecto a Covid 19. Una vez que estemos en el nivel rojo, habrá hasta un período de dos semanas para finalizar los preparativos para el regreso de los estudiantes de primaria y SDC. Esta dirección de la Junta significa que los estudiantes de primaria y SDC NO cambiarán de clases o maestros el 19 de enero de 2021 como se planeó originalmente.

Great Bayside Community,
The students from Ms. Naqvi’s science class periods joined the Meet and played three rounds of Science Kahoot on December 03, 2020. They enjoyed playing the fun game and were able to represent their respective classes. For instance, Garret Chiu from the 6th Period ranked first place. Peyton Higa from 5th-Period scored second place.
There were three students, Jayden Baharudin from 3rd, Isabella Bianco from 4th, and Kiera Chiu from 1st Period, tied for the third place. They played another round the next day to finalize their position-Jayden won the 3rd place award.
The student representatives from other classes, Joshua Fu (3rd Period), Carina Flores (3rd Period), Jeremy Lim (1st Period), and Monica Lim (6th Period) also played well and showed in-depth knowledge of science concepts.

Youth in Pre Med is a program that aims to inspire youth with medicine and give them the resources they need to pursue a future in medicine if they choose to. We offer weekly sessions that include medical presentations, guest speakers, application advice and interview prep. We previously hosted guest speakers from Stanford University and Kaiser Permanente. We also inform participants about virtual opportunities in STEM and medicine when they arise. In addition, we have reached hundreds of people from all over the world.
Next semester, we are proud to be offering our spring session when students can come learn about numerous medical topics and learn from doctors who are affiliated with prestigious organizations. In addition, as we get closer to the summer, we will assist students in applying to medical and STEM programs when they begin to reopen.
In spring 2021, our programming dates will be on Sundays from 10:00am to 10:40am.
