This past weekend over 70 campers and 15 summer staff returned to BCC for Winter Connect. Together they played games, hiked around camp, did arts and crafts, engaged in small group discussions, and shared in a daily time of songs and skits. A snow squall came through camp right before lunch on Sunday and everyone was able to hit the hill for a quick round of sledding!

In addition to all the fun of the weekend, seeing all the campers and staff together was a reminder of the power of community that happens here at camp. Cabinmates from the previous summer seemed to pick up their friendships right where they'd left them and new friend groups formed as campers met for the first time (and many started trying to figure out what session they were all going to come back for this summer!)

This wintery time together was a great way to officially kick off our celebration of 50 years at Bear Creek Camp!

Behind the scenes, much is going on in preparation for the year ahead. It's been a joy seeing names familiar and new as summer camp registration has opened. Summer staff are applying and interviewing to serve, and their excitement for the opportunities ahead is contagious. As weather allows, construction has begun on the expansion to the high ropes course! Over the coming Sundays, staff will be traveling across our two synods, sharing in congregations about the positive impacts of the camp experience.
