November Newsletter

Last month, in the span of just thirty-six hours, our high ropes course hosted 63 fifth graders and their chaperones on an overnight school field trip, 12 college students participating in a retreat with their campus ministry, and 20 men on their annual church retreat. And that's just one weekend in October.

Nearly every camper that attended overnight summer camp and nature day camp had opportunities on the high ropes course from ziplining to the flying squirrel, crate stacking, the giant's ladder, the leap of faith, and the high course. This past year, the high ropes course has had over 1000 participants.

Our current high ropes course built in 2013 has served faithfully for over 10 years. It's incredible to think about the countless moments of self-discovery, teamwork, and fun that have happened in that small section of our woods!

Giving Tuesday has become a touchstone event for our community in raising funds in support of a major project here at camp.

Last year's project of enhancing the waterfront made a huge impact on summer campers enjoying the larger and deeper swimming area, and we're excited that construction of the pavilion at the lake is currently underway to be ready for next summer!

This year for Giving Tuesday, we're again looking to the future and making a favorite area of camp even better for our summer campers and year-round guests. Starting with the necessary replacement of critical safety components and then building more elements for groups of all ages, we have a multi-faceted plan to expand and enhance the high ropes course.

Our friends at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Audubon are jump-starting this year's project with a generous $10,000 matching challenge gift. This means every dollar you give towards this project is doubled! In order to fully realize our vision, we look to raise an additional $25,000 from our community.

I hope that you will join us in making a gift in support of this project. You can already have your donation doubled today and we look forward to the fun and excitement of Giving Tuesday, November 28th!
