Heidi* started her third stay at Becky's Place in January of 2020. She had been staying with a friend, but they ultimately made her leave. Heidi felt defeated and wondered why she couldn't maintain stable housing.
Becky's Place case managers decided to try a unique plan. Heidi had mentioned a dream of owning a tiny house with some land. The case managers presented her the idea of starting a credit repair plan so that she could get a loan in the future. Part of the plan included the idea of getting a camper until she could save money for her dream house.
Heidi worked and saved her money until she found the perfect camper. Her employers found out and gave her a small loan to help purchase it. She is currently paying them back and on track to pay off the loan quickly. She found a lot with all the proper hookups and an extremely low monthly rent. She is more motivated than ever to repair her credit, buy a tiny house, and fulfill her dream. She no longer worries about who she will stay with and if they will tell her to leave with no place to go. Heidi feels blessed to own her home and hopes to travel one day. Heidi returns to Becky's Place frequently to volunteer with resident childcare and assist residents. Becky's Place continues to see Heidi and she is a wonderful role model for the other residents.
