Three new members of the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board
Scott Goldberg - business representative
At the age of 24, Scott founded Streamline Management, LLC, a residential real estate leasing and property management firm headquartered in downtown Bethesda. The firm services Montgomery, Frederick and Prince George's Counties, the District of Columbia and parts of northern Virginia.
An active participant in the community, Scott has been a basketball coach with the Long Branch Athletic Association, is an Eagle Scout, was President of the Montgomery County Young Democrats and is a frequent blood donor.
In 2004, Scott graduated from the University of Maryland with two bachelor's degrees, one in government and politics, the other in international business. He is scheduled to graduate from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2012.
Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and his pug, Gus.
Aileen Klein - residential representative
A native of Washington, D.C., and resident of Rockville, Aileen Klein started her career in the early 1970s in the inner-city D.C. public school system, as part of the Urban Teacher Corps. She received her BA in sociology from the University of Maryland and her MA in elementary childhood education from Catholic University. After starting her family, Ms. Klein joined IBM Corporation, where she worked in the federal division for 27 years before retiring.
An active volunteer throughout the county, Ms. Klein is on the board of the Friends of the Library for Montgomery Montgomery County and is chapter relations coordinator for 16 Friends of the Library chapters.
Ms. Klein is a graduate of Senior Leadership Montgomery class of 2010 and a board member of the Rose Hill Falls homeowners association. She also is a founding member of Rockville's bicycle advisory committee, former co-chair and current member of the Rockville Town Center action team and Buy Rockville committee. Ms. Klein has also completed training as a Montgomery County study circle facilitator, youth life coach, and mediator.
John Thomas - residential representative
John Thomas is the Director of the Community Assistance and Research Division in EPA's Office of Sustainable Communities. Over the past 15 years he has worked on sustainable transportation and land use planning issues at the federal level, provided technical assistance to state and local governments, and taught graduate courses related to smart growth.
In recent years, John has spent a significant amount of time on the HUD-DOT-EPA Sustainable Communities Partnership, managing technical assistance programs and leading performance measure development efforts. He also serves as an adjunct professor in George Washington University's sustainable urban planning program.
John received an MA in urban planning from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. He has lived in the GlenMar Park area of Bethesda with his wife and two daughters since 2005.
