Reduced hours for Social Security offices

Effective August 15, Social Security offices in our area (e.g., Rockville and Silver Spring) and across the nation will be open to the public Monday through Friday 9 am - 3:30 pm, instead of 4 pm. This 30-minute reduction is due to a $1 billion cut in appropriations from Congress.

New parking rates in Bethesda now in effect

New, higher parking rates in county-owned lots and garages in Bethesda went into effect yesterday, August 1. The change is part of the FY 2012 budget approved by the County Council.
