Presented by the Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York, the speaker Fred Stein, CPA, has 25+ years of experience working for business clients as well as five years as a controller for a nonprofit. He has been a featured speaker on changing tax and accounting issues at industry conferences and  served as an adjunct instructor at Siena College.

The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce is working on our
Annual Holiday Shopping Card Promotion for November 24 (Small Business Saturday)
through December 31, 2018.  The program is a continuation of our active
Buy Local Initiative and is a way to encourage the Bethlehem community
to support local businesses during the holiday shopping season before making
trips to area malls and Black Friday sales.

Participation is open to
Member and Non-Member businesses.


10,000 cards are printed in November and distributed:
* 2018 Bethlehem Turkey Trot: As a sponsor, the Chamber distributes cards to
approximately 3,000 participants during Pre-Registration
* Spotlight Newspaper: Chamber inserts Holiday Cards into 5,000+ papers
(11/21/18 edition) distributed by mail and on newsstands in town.
* Community locations: Bethlehem Town Hall, Bethlehem Public Library, local post offices, Bethlehem Chamber office, Saturday and Tuesday Farmers Markets
* Member and Participating Businesses: Cards are given to member and participating
businesses to distribute to customers


Advertising is purchased locally to make the
community  aware of the program.


Deadline to participate is Friday, October 26.

Want to learn more about the opioid epidemic? Join the Delmar First United Methodist Church for a 6- week community program. Explore the epidemic and gain an understanding  about how it touches so many lives in our families and community. The first 90-minute program begins on October 14 at 6pm and the Five Paths to Opioid Dependence will be discussed. View the flyer for details. Attend  any or all of the six sessions to learn about the opioid epidemic and understand how you may be able to help.

Swifty's Restaurant & Pub  has teamed up with  To Life!  to raise money for breast cancer! They are selling  Swifty's Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirts  for $12 each, and $3 for every shirt sold will be donated to To Life!. Order forms are available at the restaurant.

Patriot Flight is presenting their  3rd Annual Essay Contest. It is open to ALL High School students, and two winners will receive a 1-day, all expense paid trip to the Memorials in Washington DC with veterans from WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War. See attached flyer for details.

Rain Hair Studio is teaming up with Pretty in Pink, a local fundraiser for American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Awareness. They are offering  Pink Hair Extensions this whole week for a $10 minimum donation. 100% of the proceeds will be donated. No appointment necessary, through 10/6/18.

The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy for a Night Under the Stars is TONIGHT! MHLC's  annual party raises the funds that sustain our vital conservation efforts. We promise an evening to remember at the New York State Museum, as we unveil our most significant conservation effort in 26 years. Free Movement Pilates will be offering two new sessions with Jennifer Nizer, PT. School Aged Pilates Mat will begin October 6. This 6-week session is $95, Saturday mornings (9am or 9:30am classes). And this Sunday the studio presents Yin Meditation with  Lauren Strait (12-1:30pm, $30) The practice of Yin Yoga is designed as a pathway into your connective tissue. Much of our life experiences - trauma, loss, heartbreak, etc. - are stored in our bodies - particularly in our connective tissue resulting in tightness, restriction, fascial buildup, etc. Yin is so powerful because it offers us the safe space, by holding supported postures close to the ground for an extended length of time to release physical limitation, and open the door to emotional freedom.
