The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce is working on our
Annual Holiday Shopping Card Promotion for November 24 (Small Business Saturday)
through December 31, 2018.  The program is a continuation of our active
Buy Local Initiative and is a way to encourage the Bethlehem community
to support local businesses during the holiday shopping season before making
trips to area malls and Black Friday sales.

Participation is open to
Member and Non-Member businesses.


10,000 cards are printed in November and distributed:
* 2018 Bethlehem Turkey Trot: As a sponsor, the Chamber distributes cards to
approximately 3,000 participants during Pre-Registration
* Spotlight Newspaper: Chamber inserts Holiday Cards into 5,000+ papers
(11/21/18 edition) distributed by mail and on newsstands in town.
* Community locations: Bethlehem Town Hall, Bethlehem Public Library, local post offices, Bethlehem Chamber office, Saturday and Tuesday Farmers Markets
* Member and Participating Businesses: Cards are given to member and participating
businesses to distribute to customers


Advertising is purchased locally to make the
community  aware of the program.


Deadline to participate is Friday, October 26.

This weekend Del Lanes will host their Halloweekend Costume Cosmic on 
Friday & Saturday, 10/26 & 10/27, from 9:30pm-1:30am. The $10 entry (with costume) includes 2-hours of bowling and shoes, and there will be contests and prizes.

The annual Selkirk Fire Halloween Party will take place Wednesday, October 31, from 6-9pm.  Enjoy cider donuts, hot & cold beverages,  and other sweets & treats. Warm up and rest your Trick or Treating legs!

The Town of Bethlehem presents Grandma, Grandpa & Me Halloween Fun program in the morning on  Wednesday, October 31, from 10-11am at the Elm Avenue Park Office. $15, pre-registration required. This program is g eared towards strengthening the bond between grandparents and their grandchildren and will have a themed activity and play group atmosphere. Ages 2-4.

Each October Policy Research Associates celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), organized by the U.S. Department of Labor. NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and provides education about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents. In celebration of this year's NDEAM, they are highlighting  employment resources  from the SAMHSA SOAR TA Center to help start conversations about working while receiving SSA disability benefits. Bethlehem Public Library is conducting a community survey seeking input about how people are using the library and what services are of most value. As the board of trustees begins a long-range planning discussion, they are looking to balance the maintenance and upkeep needs of the 45-year-old building with the kinds of community-supported enhancements that will allow it to grow with and be a reflection of the community it serves. Public input is key in helping the trustees and library staff make those decisions. The survey was mailed to homes in the Bethlehem Central School District and is also available in a larger print paper edition at the library and online. Click here to take the survey.
