Adult Sunday School Classes
9:30 am
Join us on Sunday morning, May 12, 9:30-10:30 for an adult Sunday School class. There are a variety of opportunities to choose from, and each class is open to newcomers!

Mindful   Parenting,  Lounge:  Each week, the group discusses ideas about parenting from current resources. The simple format includes the following: prayer, brief check-in, summary of the book or article being shared, and a discussion on prepared questions. We welcome novice and experienced parents alike looking to share laughter, support, and hope in the journey of parenting.

The Bible and The New York Times , Sunroom:  Ashley Nissler will lead a discussion on Anita Hill: Let’s Talk About How to End Sexual Violence.

Finding Myself on a Journey , Chapel:  Meredith Bratcher guides this Bible-based experiential learning and life reflection class. This Sunday, the passage to be considered is  John 10:22-30.

It’s Not Just One Way , Room 17:  Each week in this class, an individual or couple shares their spiritual journey with the group.

English as a Second Language and Christianity , Room 18:  Bo Lloyd leads the class in an engaging study of Christian faith, while also helping participants improve English vocabulary and fluency.
Staff Retreat
Our Ministerial Staff will be away on a planning retreat on Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14. Please pray for their safe travels and for a productive time of team building and program planning.
Wednesday Night Series
May 15, 5:30 pm, Fellowship Hall
Alice Ammerman, Professor of Nutrition at UNC and Director of UNC’s Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention has (with a team of current and former students) created “Good Bowls.” These bowls provide lower-income consumers in rural areas and “food deserts” with “ready to heat-and-eat” healthful, locally sourced foods that are frozen for longer shelf life. Join us to hear Alice’s amazing vision for food equity in North Carolina and beyond. Check ‘Event’ in the Friendship Register or let the office know you are coming by noon on Monday, May 13. Dinner is $7 for adults, $4 for children. This is the final Wednesday Night Event for the 2018-2019 program year. We’ll see you in September!
Monday, May 20, 12:30 pm, Lounge
Anyone available for a hearty lunch and a wholesome program at 12:30 pm on Monday, May 20 is invited to Primetimers. This month our program is led by Phil Szostak, who will talk with us about his career as an architect. Phil is responsible for some recognizable and important buildings in our area. Lunch from K&W is $9. Please RSVP to the office or sign up outside Dale’s door by Friday, May 17.
May Challenge
Personal/Family Sustainability Proclamations
Our May Challenge is for each member or friend of Binkley to craft a Personal and/or Family Proclamation of Sustainability that can help guide your actions regarding Earth Care, especially as the time for vacations and travel is
approaching. Only if we are mindful of our daily decisions can we live in greater harmony with Mother Earth.
At a Wednesday Night dinner in the Fall, we will be asking individual and family volunteers to share their Proclamations.

You can read Binkley's Proclamation of Sustainability here .

Saturday, May 18, 9:30 am, Dorothea Dix Park, Raleigh
NAMIWalks will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh to raise awareness for mental illness. The 5K (3.1 miles) path also offers a short-cut. Faith Connections on Mental Illness has invited Binkley Baptist Church to join their team. There is no cost to participate. We will offer a free FCoMI T-Shirt to new walkers to our team (while supplies last). Individuals who raise $100 in contributions will receive a free NAMIWalks T-shirt from event organizers. Even if you can’t walk, donations are gratefully accepted. Click here to learn more or contact Ann Cockrell with any questions.

You can help a family transitioning into permanent housing by purchasing Mother's Day cards through the IFC. The cards feature artwork by children in the HomeStart program and they are mailed for you. Click here.
