Habitat Dedication Honoring Robert Seymour
All are welcome to attend the dedication of Habitat's affordable senior housing project, Crescent Magnolia. This project served as Binkley's 60th Anniversary service project, and various groups from our congregation have completed several volunteer shifts at this site over the last year. The first building of Crescent Magnolia is named in honor of our Minister Emeritus Bob Seymour, and this event was planned to take place on Bob's 94th birthday. Don't miss it!
The Binkley 411
Summer Choir
This Sunday!
Summer Choir is a short-term, high-impact commitment that allows you to assist in leading worship through the summer months. We’ll meet at 9:50 am in the sanctuary on each of the three identified Sunday mornings (July 14, August 4, and August 25) to warm up and practice the anthem for the day. Copies of the music will also be made available in advance to anyone who wants some extra practice. All ages and ability levels are welcome! The choir is a fun and supportive group of people who will welcome you with open arms. Please contact Kyle for more information.
The second Binkley Eco Sunday will be July 14 . After worship, you’ll find a collection center in the Narthex for depositing old batteries (including hearing aid batteries) and out of date or unused medications. There is no need to remove medicines from their containers, but to assure privacy, mark through any personal identifying information or remove labels from pill bottles. The Earth Ministry Team will assure proper disposal of all collected items.
Orange-Chatham Interfaith Care for Creation
Monday, July 15, 7 pm, Fellowship Hall
Binkley is one of the three ‘initiating’ congregations in Chapel Hill working to create a network of faith and retirement communities in Orange County to engage collectively in Creation Care action. This group will convene at Binkley Baptist Church on Monday, July 15 from 7-8:30 pm to focus on how they can become more engaged around issues of Creation Care. Featured presenters for the event will be our own Karin Mills and Linda Bourne. All are invited to attend and bring friends as well!
Piano Sunday
July 21
Enjoy music from several talented Binkley pianists during 11 am worship. Be here by 10:45 for the extended prelude.
Join us for an evening of music and fellowship and get a glimpse of where it all began, Gerrard Hall, the original worship site for our congregation in its infancy, before we built on our current site.
This culmination of our celebration of 60 years will include musical performances and hymn singing, speakers to share about those days in Gerrard Hall, music by current and/or former choral scholars, a silent auction, and ice cream in the courtyard.
For more details, check page 10 of the July newsletter .

Mock Emergency Lunch
Mark July 28 on your calendar for a mock emergency lunch. As part of our Simply Summer worship experience, we will learn about how our church can be a well-prepared host during a real emergency such as flooding, hurricanes, or extended power outages. Those who participate will partake in the lunch after worship along with invited guests from the Chapel Hill Community. Volunteer opportunities and supply needs will be announced soon.
The Faith of a Skeptic
