Greetings!
This is a great time of year to be here in Boston. Even though the campus tends to be quieter in the summer, the education of fine physicians and researchers moves forward. More than 100 faculty, staff, residents and students attended
John McCahan Medical Education Day. This was the 10th anniversary of the annual event that showcases academic innovation and teaching ideologies. The
Physician Assistant students marked a milestone donning coats for the first time in the second annual white coat ceremony.
With the city's notorious mountain of snow officially declared melted on July 15, and our historic winter now a distant memory, we open another academic year by welcoming new medical students. Parents, faculty and friends joined the Class of 2019 in the annual rite of passage, the
White Coat Ceremony, on
Talbot Green. A huge thank you to alumni and current students, who offered
words of encouragement to the incoming class. These were shared with the class during the Alumni Association welcome party held as part of Orientation Week.
If your schedule permits, I encourage you to stop by the
Taj Rooftop on October 15 for a casual and elegant evening with BUSM deans, faculty and recent graduates. This annual event provides an opportunity to sample fine food, take in stunning views of the city, and stay connected with your BUSM family.
Thanks to generosity and support of alumni and friends of the medical school, we have reached more than $141 million towards our $200 million goal. Money raised for the annual fund alone, has surpassed the $3 million mark with 2,154 alumni participating. Every dollar counts. Every donor counts.
The annual
Dean's Club Recognition Dinner will be held at The Taj Boston on September 26. It's not too late! I invite you to join this group of leadership donors by
making your gift of $1,500. Philanthropic resources are critical in allowing Dean Antman the ability to maintain and improve investments in faculty, classrooms, study space and health and wellness initiatives.
BUSM continues to be one of the best places to learn, teach and discover. I encourage you to sign up for
BUSM News, a weekly to keep you connected to all things related to BUSM, BMC and the BUMC community in one tidy spot. I think you will really enjoy it!
