Happy holidays! This is the time of year when we take a moment to reflect on all we have accomplished, and no matter what is going on in the broader community, we recognize that we have much to be grateful for and just as much to celebrate. In my role as Associate Dean of Alumni Affairs, I can tell you that we at BUSM are thankful for our alumni, faculty, parents, volunteers and friends who contribute their time, talent and treasure. In this Thanksgiving video, faculty, staff, and students share their own reflections on what means the most to them.

We also like to celebrate our committed and dedicated faculty who continue to teach, guide and mentor medical students. It is truly wonderful to see how some were recognized for their campus and community contributions at the SCOMSA Faculty and Student Mixer. While this festive occasion provided an opportunity to gather in a social setting, it also prompted student-voted awards for faculty members and the work they do inside and outside the classroom. Acknowledgment of faculty expanded far past our own campus, though, as an incredible 67 faculty members were honored as "Top Docs" in Boston Magazine's annual report.

Please join me in thanking fellow alumna Shamim Dahod and her husband, Ash, for their extraordinary generosity. Having already committed a gift to establish the Dahod Breast Cancer Research Center at BUSM, they have extended their philanthropy to benefit the entire alumni community and preserve a historical campus landmark, the BU Castle, as the new Dahod Family Alumni Center. We certainly have a great deal of generosity to celebrate this year!

With the help of our Communications team, our faculty, students and staff had some fun with the Mannequin Challenge, a viral internet video trend where people remain frozen in action while a moving camera films them. Take a look and see if you recognize some familiar faces or locations.

We know that everyone enjoys joining celebrations, so we continue to look for ways to keep BUSM alumni connected. You may be working with a fellow BUSM graduate and not realize it. Several local alumni recently gathered for the very first Alumni Neighborhood Event in the Longwood medical area of Boston. If you would like us to help build a neighborhood event in your area, please let us know!

This has been another remarkable year with so many new memories and connections made. As we celebrate the outstanding education and research at BUSM, we wish you and your family health, happiness and prosperity in the New Year.

Best wishes,
