One of our most collaborative events, the second annual
Black History Symposium, occurred earlier in the month, bringing together alumni, faculty, staff, and students from across the medical campus. Alumni presenters spoke on microaggressions that they experienced both when they were younger and today, as medical professionals of color. I want to thank everyone, especially our dedicated alumni, who contributed to the planning or who engaged at the event. As the
photos show, it was a success because of you!
I had the opportunity to see our community in action again on
Children's Vision Advocacy Day. BUSM students joined many professionals to advocate for a statewide comprehensive children's vision health program. Seeing our dedicated students eager to learn and stand up for future patients was inspiring. It is no surprise that our alumni base is so impressive, when our students from an early point in their medical careers look to better patients everywhere.
Be sure to take a look at the other stories and research discoveries below, as there is no shortage of notable accomplishments from those on and off campus. And, if anyone's work or story inspires you, I encourage you to visit our webpage to
support the school, our faculty, and our staff.
Warm regards,
