FEATURED STORY

Bourns Expands RF Component Portfolio
for 5G, IoT and GNSS Applications

Bourns announced five LTCC (low-temperature co-fired ceramic) RF product releases in a single week this July, with models covering frequencies from DC to 5000 MHz. The additions include Bourns® FLP Series Low Pass Filters, FBN Series Baluns, FBD1608N080D6 Balanced Band Pass Filter, FBP Series Band Pass Filters for the 5G C-band, and the FDP2009N122157H4 Diplexer for dual-band GNSS L1/L2/L5 signal processing.

Each device uses LTCC construction to integrate multiple passive elements into a single monolithic structure, reducing component count and board space in RF front-end designs for 5G, IoT, LTE and GPS applications.

"These LTCC baluns give RF designers documented options for balanced-to-unbalanced conversion and impedance transformation across 800 MHz to 3900 MHz frequency ranges. The multilayer ceramic construction keeps the package compact while supporting the insertion loss, phase difference and amplitude difference values specified for each model." — Edward Liu, Product Line Manager, Bourns

PRODUCT & TECHNOLOGY

AEC-Q200 Compliant Lineup Expands
for Automotive Power Designs

Bourns added three automotive-grade product families to its magnetics and resistor portfolios this July, each AEC-Q200 compliant.

The Bourns® SM91572AL BMS Signal Transformer integrates common mode chokes to support communication in battery management system (BMS) designs.

The Bourns® SRP2010PA, SRP2510PA and SRP2512PA Series Shielded Power Inductors offer saturation currents up to 9 A in a shielded, low-profile construction suited to automotive DC-DC designs.

The Bourns® CFG-A Series Wide Terminal Metal Foil Resistors provide resistance values from 1 mΩ to 40 mΩ for automotive-grade current sensing.

Together, the releases extend Bourns' automotive grade portfolio across signal transformers, power inductors, and current sense resistors for automotive electronics applications.

APPLICATION ENGINEERING

Custom Power Inductor Supports Peak Efficiency
of Up to 98.6 % in TI’s 11 kW Bidirectional Inverter
and PFC Reference Design

The Bourns® MAG-3002410 High-Current Power Inductor is now available as engineering samples through select distribution partners. Originally developed as a custom design for Texas Instruments’ TIDA-01606 11 kW bidirectional three-phase, three-level (T-type) inverter and power factor correction (PFC) reference design, the inductor combines a low-profile construction with ultra-low DC resistance (DCR) to help the system achieve peak efficiency of up to 98.6 % in its active front end (AFE) inverter and PFC stage.

Features

  • Designed for TIDA-01606 11 kW T-type inverter and PFC
  • Low-profile, space-saving design
  • Ultra-low DCR for reduced losses and heat
  • High-efficiency power conversion
  • Suitable for high-voltage systems
  • RoHS compliant*

Applications

  • Central inverters for renewable DC-to-AC conversion
  • DC fast chargers for EV batteries
  • EV charger power modules
  • Fuel cell DC-to-AC inverters
  • HVDC power transmission systems
  • Solid-state transformers (SSTs)
