Message from the Superintendent

Dear Members of the Bowling Green City Schools Community,

As we embark on an exciting new chapter in the history of Bowling Green City Schools, I want to take a moment to share some important updates and express my gratitude for your patience and partnership during this time of transition.

Construction is officially underway for our new Bowling Green High School, and with it comes a series of necessary changes to the traffic patterns around our current middle and high school campus. These adjustments are essential to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and visitors, while also allowing the construction team the access they need to complete this important project.

Beginning this month, you will notice new designated routes for student drop-off/pick-up and some changes or rerouting of parking areas. Clear signage and updated maps have been posted on our website and shared across district communication channels to help everyone navigate the changes. We have been coordinating closely with the construction team and the City of Bowling Green to ease the transition and minimize disruption as much as possible.

We understand that these changes may bring added inconvenience to your daily routines, and we do not take that lightly. Your flexibility, understanding, and cooperation during the next two years are truly appreciated.

That said, we are incredibly excited for what’s ahead. Once construction is complete, our students will benefit from a modern, innovative, and inspiring new high school facility designed to meet the educational needs of today and tomorrow. This new building will serve not only our students but our entire community for generations to come.

Thank you for your continued support of Bowling Green City Schools. Together, we are building something special for our students and for the future of our district. For your reference, below is a campus map outlining the designated routes for both the middle and high school traffic pattern.

I am honored to serve the students, families, community, and staff of Bowling Green City Schools. I promise that our District will continue to work hard to improve each day to provide a high-quality education for our students, a financially sound organization for our stakeholders, and be a point of pride for the entire community.

Go Bobcats,

Dr. Ted Haselman

Superintendent

Bobcat Theatre Shines on the National Stage

We are proud to celebrate Dr. JoBeth Gonzalez, who was inducted into the Educational Theatre Association’s 2025 Hall of Fame during the Educator Appreciation Dinner at the Theatre Education Conference in Bloomington. Dr. Gonzalez continues to make a profound impact on theatre education both locally and nationally. In addition, Dr. Gonzalez’s third book is currently in production with Routledge as part of their Advances in Theatre & Performance Studies Series. Titled How High School Theatre Fosters Spiritual Strength and Critical Consciousness, the book is scheduled for release in September 2025.

We would also like to congratulate Piper Stuzman for earning a Superior Thespys Award at the International Thespian Festival (ITF) held in late June in Bloomington, Indiana! Piper competed in the Costume Construction category, showcasing her outstanding creativity, craftsmanship, and technical theatre skills on a national level. With over 1,500 students from across the U.S. participating in this prestigious event, a Superior rating is an outstanding honor.

While at ITF, Piper immersed herself in a variety of workshops, performances, and industry-led sessions—gaining invaluable experience and inspiration from Broadway professionals and fellow young artists from across the country.

Congratulations to both Piper and Dr. G—we are #BobcatProud of your accomplishments and continued contributions to the world of theatre!

Leaving Their Mark: A New Senior Tradition

Due to ongoing campus construction, seniors will not be painting parking spots this year. Instead, they will have a unique opportunity to paint a ceiling tile that will be proudly displayed in the school hallway—a lasting tribute to their graduating class.

By signing up, students will also be entered into a drawing to win the Senior Experience Basket, which includes tickets to Homecoming, Prom, the school musical, a Yearbook, and more.

Deadline to sign up: July 31

Cost to participate: $15

Snapshots of Success

From June 10–19, a group of our students, staff, and their families experienced the trip of a lifetime with EF Tours as they explored four beautiful European countries: Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.

In Austria, they visited Vienna to see landmarks like St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Hofburg Palace, and Schönbrunn Palace, and even attended a traditional Viennese concert. The group also traveled to Salzburg, enjoying the city’s rich musical and cultural heritage.

While in Germany, they explored the vibrant city of Munich and visited Dachau, gaining meaningful insight into the region’s history through powerful and educational experiences.

Their journey continued through Switzerland and they passed through Liechtenstein, where they took in breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps and explored a variety of castles and palaces throughout the region. They also visited a Swiss family farm.

The trip was a memorable blend of history, culture, and adventure—an unforgettable educational experience for all who participated. Thank you to Dr. Gonzalez for organizing the trip!

Congratulations to Alex, Max, Mason, Sarah, and Zoe, and all of the hardworking students who are among the 29 BGHS students who earned a five, which is a perfect score, on one or more of their AP exams! We are #BobcatProud of you!

BGHS Girls Soccer participated in a 3 day Cedarville Women's Soccer Camp to get ready for their season!

A few of our Bowling Green High School DECA students had an amazing time at Ohio DECA’s Summer Leadership Retreat! Emily, Julie, Emmy, and Mack built their leadership skills, strengthened friendships, and made unforgettable memories.

Our Bobcat cheerleaders participated in a UCA Cheer Camp to prepare for the upcoming season! Go Bobcats!

Four BGHS students just wrapped up an incredible summer experience through the BGSU PICNICS Program hosted by the BGSU Center for Photochemical Sciences and the BGSU Department of Chemistry! Congratulations to Addison Nickey, Arianna Chung, Edwyn Anzenbacher, and Miriam Faulkner!

Recently, they proudly presented their research projects at the PICNICS Poster Presentation at Bowling Green State University.

PICNICS stands for Parents Involvement with Children, Nurturing Intellectual Curiosity in Science, and is designed to expose high school students (grades 9–12) to real-world research in the chemical sciences.

Over six weeks, our students:

  • Conducted cutting-edge research in BGSU science labs
  • Collaborated with graduate and post-doctoral researchers
  • Participated in weekly science discussions and lab activities
  • Explored careers in science and chemistry
  • Presented their findings in a formal poster session

We're so proud of these students for taking on this challenging and rewarding opportunity.
