4th QUARTER 2016
The fourth quarter of 2016 was just as fierce as our previous quarters! CDG has continued doing work for various utility, infrastructure, mining and industrial clients, and once again we have welcomed some new employees and we're saying goodbye to an old friend.

Below is a summary of what has been keeping everyone at CDG busy over the last couple of months.
Parking Structure Services
CDG's Structural Department is well staffed with engineers who have expertise in structural evaluation and design experience related to parking structure analysis and facility design. Our full range of services (including MEP and architectural) for existing parking structures include conditional and deficiency analysis, concrete deck evaluation, design of repair and restoration work, and on-site construction inspection and testing.  Some of our project experience includes:
  • Design for a downtown St. Louis seven-level interwoven helix structure
  • Inspection and design of restoration work for a 1,500, multi-level post-tension parking structure
  • Design of a multi-level parking structures (1,650 total spaces) for two difference sites and campus architecture
  • Preparation of design/build guidelines and conceptual plans for various parking structures
We make it our goal to provide practical engineering with our client's goals and priorities in mind, and we look forward to earning your business.
Rock Island Trail Project Completion
Thanks to our hard working engineering and architecture team, Missourians can now bike or run across the state! CDG's team spent a long time working on the 46 miles of the Katy Trail State Park that links Pleasant Hill to Kansas City. Governor Jay Nixon conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 10th to celebrate the opening of the extended hiking/biking trail.

It all began in 2006 when one of our clients contacted our engineering team to conduct a preliminary study and cost estimate comparing the cost of constructing a trail next to a rail bed to constructing it on the rail bed. Two years later, in 2008, MoDNR asked CDG to provide services for the construction of the 46 mile Katy Trail Extension, also known as the Rock Island Trail, which ended up being built on the rail bed. After addressing all of the red tape and permitting associated with trail design and construction, we were off and running. Ten short years later, the trail construction began in June of 2016 and was completed this December

Goodbyes are Never Easy...
This December marks the end of an era; CDG's technical writer and the former Director of Project Development, Mike Augustine, will be retiring after a 30 year run with the firm. His wealth of knowledge and dedication to the company will be missed by many. We wish Mike all of the happiness and fun retirement can bring.
New Employees
CDG has experienced a busy year in 2016, and we have expanded our technical staff once again. Two new employees have joined the team since last quarter.

Camilo Rivera is new to our Electrical Engineering Department. He graduated from St. Louis University in May and started with CDG in October.

Austin Bray is our newest Mechanical Designer. He joins the team with four years of prior experience and was welcomed to the team in November.

Welcome Camilo and Austin!
