Save the Date: Cycle Haiti
Tour de Quisqueya Third Edition
Ever wanted to go on an adventure? Ever wanted to explore Haiti in a safe, enjoyable and recreational way? Ever considered cycling in Haiti? Or just exploring the beauty of the country?

Well, this Tour is open to both cyclists and non-cyclists!
Here is your chance! Plan ahead! We are announcing dates for the
Third Edition of the Tour de Quisqueya:
#escapethewinter #cycleinparadise #tourdequisqueya

You've heard about the good times we've been having since 2016, and about the impact we make as we pedal all across Haiti planting and donating trees. If you haven't, then check out some footage from 2016 and 2018.

Details of the itinerary will be announced at a later time. Here is what we are working on:

  • possibility of including one or more days in the Dominican Republic
  • moving from a point-to-point tour to a hub-and-spoke approach so that it means less packing/unpacking and more consecutive nights in a single location
  • reversing the route to start in Cap Haitien with convenient flight connections from Miami and ending/departing from Port-au-Prince
  • adding new destinations such as Bassin Zim and the waterfalls near Las Cahobas
  • working with our friends at Swim Haiti and Run Haiti to tie in their events at the front and back end of our Cycle Haiti Tour
On Sunday October 7 , the inaugural multi-stakeholder Haiti Reforestation Summit will convene in Virginia Beach. This will be a full day immersive and collaborative workshop involving on-the-ground actors, representatives from NGOs and academia, student associations and more to discuss tangible solutions and long-term coordinated plans for Haiti Reforestation. The day will be preceded by evening events on October 6. Come to Virginia Beach, join the conversation and proactively help to make a difference.

Tangible action-outcomes to be resolved :

  1. Organize an in-country follow-up Summit in 2019
  2. Immediately plant 10,000 trees in Haiti with $1 per tree - support this goal now
  3. Foster sales of ready-to-plant trees from local tree nurseries to organizations and individuals in Haiti

Join us at the Summit. Visit the website to register or email us to join this rising tide.
Miles of Trees Ride 2018
From 2011 to 2014 we organized an annual 4-day bicycle ride from our New Earth Farm in Virginia Beach to NYC. Are you interested in riding with us in 2018?

We are looking at four days right before a long weekend in October: 10/3 to 10/6 riding North to South (3 nights / 4 days). There will be kick-off and closing events in NYC and Virginia Beach respectively.

And the day after the ride, join the Haiti Reforestation Summit , visit our New Earth Farm or kick back at the Virginia Beach Waterfront.

The cost will be $1,000 per participant to cover expenses and to raise funds for future tree plantings.

All details are online but feel free to email us with any questions.
Nouvo Tè Farm Fund Raiser
Our educational farm in Les Cayes, Haiti expanded to include Eden Agricultural School ! Three times a week, 30+ students supported by 8 teachers come to learn about sustainable farming. The first cohort graduated back in February of this year and more are ready to join the program.

But the school and farm really need a sanitary upgrade. We propose the construction of a composting latrine to supplement the single private bathroom that is in the farmhouse residence. The budget is $8k for the latrine and other necessary improvements.

A Word from our Friends

(1) Some images reached us from our friend Winter Luc in Cité Soleil where in May he successfully planted 300 trees donated by CDi's Miles of Trees during the 2018 Tour de Quisqueya. Supported by Haiti Communitère , the trees now grow at a local school.

Winter asked us to share the new about a project tat will expand and improve the school. Check it out!
