The College of Optometrists in Vision Development is making an open call for abstracts of research studies and case reports to be presented at the 2022 Annual Meeting, either as papers (oral research presentations), or as posters.

Let COVD help fund your travel!
The COVD Annual Meeting Travel Grant is offered to encourage and support optometry student and resident participation at the Annual Meeting. Registration for students and residents will open early 2022! The grant is provided through the generous contributions of the members of COVD. THANK YOU for your support!

Application Process - Deadline to enroll is December 13, 2021

All applicants must be members of COVD (it's FREE!) and enrolled in an accredited optometry program and or residency program at a school or college of optometry.
Award Nominations
 Nominations for these awards are made by members of COVD. The decision is made by a committee of the three most recent award winners, the current President, the Immediate Past President, Executive Director and a Member-at-Large appointed by the President. 
 
 The A.M. Skeffington Award is presented to the COVD Fellow who has made outstanding contributions to the optometric literature in the areas of vision therapy and vision development.
 
The G.N. Getman Award is presented to a developmentally-oriented optometrist with clinical expertise and application in office structure and professional activity. The recipient must demonstrate a personal and professional concern for all patients, especially children, which exceeds all else. 
 
The COVT of the Year Award is given to the COVT who has shown dedication to behavioral optometry and has demonstrated understanding and support for patients and their families.

The Making Vision Therapy Visible Award is given for outstanding contributions to public awareness of vision therapy and developmental vision care.!
 
Award recipients are presented with their awards at the annual meeting each year. The 2022 Annual Meeting is being held April 5-9 in Columbus, Ohio. You do not need to be present to nominate or receive an award.
 
Deadline for nominations is January 10, 2022

On December 7 Dr. Andrea Thau, OD, FCOVD presented a lecture entitled:
"Achieving the Visual Skills Needed to be Ready for School" to the Hadassah Academic College of Optometry in Jerusalem, Israel. This was a live one-hour Zoom lecture that had been intended to be presented in-person but due to new COVID travel restrictions had to be via Zoom. The lecture was attended by approximately 40 MOptom students, Optometry faculty, and international participants from Iceland and Greece!
COVD Tour is in full swing!
COVD President, Dr. Jennifer Dattolo visited ICO last week and presented to 30 students! Thank you to COVD past president and faculty liaison Dr. Christine Allison and student liaison Shannon Carmo for hosting the 2021 Tour.
