The Board of County Commissioners held a Wye Oak dedication service to honor Gold Star spouses on April, 25, 2023.

Being a Gold Star spouse is an honor no one wants: when a loved one who was in the military passes away, a military officer presents their surviving loved one with a Gold Star. The dedicated tree will stand as a testament to the strength of Gold Star families, who endure their loss with pride and dignity, in strength of service to their families, our communities and our nation.

The white oak tree, grown and donated by Dorothy H. Oberg, is a third generation, direct descendent of the nearly 500-year-old Wye Oak in Talbot County, which was long recognized as the largest white oak in the nation.

Highway to Health van is rolling to Calvert County senior centers!

The Office on Aging partners with the Calvert County Health Department to bring health resources directly to older adults in the community. The Highway to Health mobile initiative is a multidisciplinary approach that offers comprehensive resources to citizens, including behavioral, somatic (internal body function) and social services.

Officially launched in September 2022, the mobile outreach van travels throughout Calvert County to provide health screenings and links residents to insurance, educational programs, transportation, etc.

Those who join the program will receive an A1C or blood pressure screening and a starter bag to help manage their health at home.

The Calvert County Department of Economic Development is pleased to announce it has awarded nearly $1.2 million in grant funding to 39 small businesses through the Calvert County Small Business Assistance Grant Fund.

The grant fund was established to provide financial assistance for small business owners to grow and strengthen their existing businesses.
