The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners announces county offices will be closed on Friday, April 7, 2023, in observance of Good Friday.


In addition, Calvert County senior centers, Meals on Wheels, Calvert County libraries, the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter and Animal Control Division will also be closed.

Join Calvert County Parks & Recreation for the annual Easter Egg hunt on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 12:30-3 p.m. at Hallowing Point Park.


There will be photos with the Easter bunny, food trucks, vendors, games and other activities for the whole family.


The event is free and open to the public; no registration required.

The Calvert County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, will host a free household hazardous waste collection event for county residents Saturday, April 1, 2023.


The event will be held at Mt. Hope Convenience Center located at 96 Pushaw Station Road in Sunderland, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Calvert County Department of Public Safety has issued a warning regarding cliff instability in the area of Driftwood Beach in Lusby.


In October of 2020, cliff erosion following a storm exposed a septic tank located on residential property in the area. Since then, the county has worked diligently with FEMA to acquire the property.


Signs are posted warning the public to stay out of the area, however members of the public continue to walk along the beach area. Citizens are advised to explore only in areas designated safe for public access and always remain aware of your surroundings.

The Calvert County Tax Sale is scheduled for Friday, April 21, at 10 a.m. The Calvert County Treasurer's Office holds this sale annually for any real property that is two years delinquent in payment of real estate taxes. In accordance with Maryland law, the delinquent taxpayers are advertised in at least one local newspaper for four weeks prior to the sale.


If you are the successful bidder in a tax sale, you can begin foreclosure on the property no earlier than six months and a day from the time of sale, but no later than two years from the date of sale. The property owner has up to final foreclosure to redeem the property.
