Due to the recent surge of COVID-19, and to protect the health of citizens and staff, the public may provide public comment virtually. Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to dial in by phone at the published time. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

The BOCC held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new SMECO Electric Vehicle (EV) Recharge stations in Calvert County.

The Prince Frederick SMECO EV recharge station is one of four units installed in Calvert County at the Calvert Library Fairview branch, Courthouse Annex, Southern Community Center and Calvert Marine Museum.

SMECO is currently in the process of installing units at the College of Southern Maryland, Prince Frederick Campus and the Calvert Board of Education on Dares Beach Road.
Safe Nights provides winter protection for Calvert County’s homeless population by offering shelter in a clean and safe environment.

The host shelter provides a warm bed and breakfast, a bag of lunch and dinner. Shelter hours are from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., seven days a week until Feb. 27.

A one-time, in-person registration is required each season and walk-ins will not be accepted. Call Safe Nights of Calvert County at 443-486-8670 for more information.
The Calvert County Board of Elections informs citizens that voters who wish to vote by mail in the state’s 2022 Primary Election will need to submit a mail-in ballot request form before June 21, 2022. The Maryland State Board of Elections began mailing ballot request forms to registered voters last week.

Darryl is meeting with State Extension Specialist for Water Quality Dr. Andrew Lazur. Andrew is taking him on a two-minute plunge into the science of residential and commercial septic systems.

The Calvert County Health Department continues to provide access to COVID-19 testing and vaccinations at the Fox Run Shopping Center site (713 Solomons Island Road N. in Prince Frederick).

Testing is by appointment only, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. COVID-19 vaccinations are administered Monday through Friday from 2:30-4 p.m. One day each week, vaccinations will be given until 6 p.m. There are also periodic Saturday hours and various administration sites around the county via the Health Department's outreach van. 

An additional COVID-19 testing site is open at Dunkirk District Park, located at 10750 Southern Maryland Blvd. The testing site is independently operated by First Call Medical Center and will provide same-day, walk-up COVID-19 rapid, PCR and antigen testing in Calvert County. Testing is available at the site Monday through Friday from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
