Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to attend public meetings or can provide comment by dialing in by phone at the published time. To provide dial-in comment, call toll-free 888-475-4499 or 877-853-5257 and enter the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

Update on Elections!
The Maryland primary election is Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Early Voting
Early voting is underway through Thursday, July 14, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Voters can go to any of the three early voting centers in the county:

  • Southern Community Center (20 Appeal Lane, Lusby, MD 20657)
  • Community Resources Building (30 Duke St., Prince Frederick, MD 20678)
  • Fairview Vote Center (behind Calvert Library Fairview Branch, 8120 Southern Maryland Blvd., Owings, MD 20736)

Ballot Drop Boxes
Voted mail-in ballots can be submitted to one of the secure drop boxes listed below. Drop boxes are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until July 19 at 8 p.m. Drop boxes are secure and ballots are retrieved daily by Board of Elections staff:

  • Southern Community Center (20 Appeal Lane, Lusby, MD 20657)
  • Community Resources Building (30 Duke St., Prince Frederick, MD 20678)
  • Calvert Library Fairview Branch (8120 Southern Maryland Blvd., Owings, MD 20736)
  • Northeast Community Center (4075 Gordon Stinnett Ave., Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732)

The BOCC is pleased to announce the release of the 2018-2022 End of Term Progress Report.

The progress report covers local government initiatives and accomplishments from the start of the current BOCC term in December 2018 through May 2022. The report provides an overview of county government operations in many areas.

The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees for cats through the month of July.

Cats of all ages and personalities are available for adoption. Regular adoption procedures still apply. Shelter hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment call 410-535-7387.

The Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, will host free paper shredding events for county residents and businesses.

The following shred events will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine:

Saturday, Sept. 24
Appeal Landfill

Hallowing Point Waterfront Recreation Area on the Patuxent River is getting a redesign and we want your valuable feedback!

Vote on your favorite of two proposed master plans for the Hallowing Point Waterfront Recreation Area in Prince Frederick, through July 15.

You can also read about proposed Hallowing Point Waterfront Recreation Area improvements on the Maryland Department of Natural Resources website and submit feedback on the master plans for site redevelopment.
Planning a road trip this summer?
