Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to attend public meetings or can provide comment by dialing in by phone at the published time. To provide dial-in comment, call toll-free 888-475-4499 or 877-853-5257 and enter the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

We’re celebrating national Adopt a Shelter Dog Month at the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter!

Dogs make wonderfully supportive and heroic companions. We’ve seen it time and again: when you adopt a dog into your home, you’ll change his or her life and possibly your own. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a new best friend, please call the shelter and allow staff to help you find the perfect canine companion.
The Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, will host free paper shredding events for residents to help prevent identity theft by destroying confidential or sensitive documents. The shred events will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Visit online for a schedule of shred events through December. There is no limit per resident. Proof of residency is required.
October is recognized as National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and is a time for all government agencies, businesses, community groups, schools and families to increase awareness and understanding of how to be “cyber smart.” 

Anyone using internet-connected devices are encouraged to learn about and use cybersecurity best practices.  
The Calvert County Health Department has updated guidance on eligibility requirements for residents who wish to register for a booster or third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Under new guidance, all citizens ages 16 or older, who have received either the initial Pfizer or Moderna vaccinations, are eligible to receive a booster dose.

SAVE THE DATE

The Department of Public Safety, Animal Services Division, and the Calvert County Health Department are sponsoring a drive-thru rabies clinic to offer free rabies vaccinations for pets.

The clinic will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 10 a.m. to noon at Huntingtown High School located at 4125 Solomons Island Road in Huntingtown.
