Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to attend public meetings or can provide comment by dialing in by phone at the published time. To provide dial-in comment, call toll-free 888-475-4499 or 877-853-5257 and enter the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

We have exciting news: our economic development websites have a new look!


While they may look a little different, rest assured they’ll continue to deliver

the same great information you’re used to.


First up was a refresh of our economic development website! Besides a new web address at www.ChooseCalvert.com, we created a new one-stop portal for everything business, agriculture and tourism. You can get to our tourism site directly at www.VisitCalvert.com, and you can still find everything you need to know about Calvert agriculture at www.CalvertAg.com


These changes are all part of our continuous effort to provide the best, most efficient experience for citizens to access government information and services. Visit the new URLs today to see the updated logos and color schemes.

Shelter pets are in need of loving homes!


Citizens are encouraged to visit the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter when considering a new pet this month. If you are thinking about bringing a new furry family member into your home, this may be just the time to do it!


To schedule an intake appointment, call 410-535-7387. The shelter is located at 5055 Hallowing Point Road in Prince Frederick.

The Department of Economic Development is seeking local small business owners who are veterans of the U.S. armed forces. We would like to feature your business in a video spotlight series during National Veterans Small Business Week, from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4, 2022.


A business with fewer than 500 employees is considered a small business.


Businesses must be in good standing with the county and the state in order to be featured. Interested business owners should contact Economic Development at [email protected] before Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.

The Calvert County Commission on Aging and Department of Community Resources, Office on Aging, are making plans to make Calvert County more “age friendly” for the county’s growing older adult population. 


Residents are invited to participate in an informational session to kick off community discussion on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 5 p.m. at Calvert Pines Senior Center, located at 450 W. Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick. The event will feature guest speakers, information on how to eliminate physical and social barriers for older adults and resources to offer insight about this important topic. 


National Voter Registration Day returns tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022.

Join Parks & Recreation (P&R) for the 31st Annual Golf Classic Tournament Oct. 7, 2022 at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $80 per person, which includes greens fees, a cart, beverages, prizes and lunch.


Net tournament proceeds benefit the P&R Program Scholarship Fund in memory of the late Therman Gray, a former Parks & Recreation employee who was active in working with the community’s young people.
