Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to attend public meetings or can provide comment by dialing in by phone at the published time. To provide dial-in comment, call toll-free 888-475-4499 or 877-853-5257 and enter the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will hold a public hearing Tuesday, April 26, 2022, to receive and consider public input regarding a $434,861.50 budget adjustment to forward fund a FEMA acquisition project. The hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Commissioners’ Hearing Room in the Calvert County Circuit Courthouse, located at 175 Main St. in Prince Frederick.

The budget adjustment is to forward fund the purchase of at-risk properties, demolish existing structures, return the property to a natural state and block future building permits to the property. Visit online for

The Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, will host free paper shredding events for residents to help prevent identity theft by destroying confidential or sensitive documents.

The shred events will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates: 

Saturday, April 23
Saturday, May 21
Saturday, June 25

There is no limit per resident, proof of residency is required. Visit online for more information. 
The Department of Public Works advises that the Ward Road paving project scheduled for completion by Friday, April 8 was extended due to inclement weather. The roundabout on Ward Road in Dunkirk will be closed today, Tuesday, April 12, for final paving and road striping. Ward Farm Recreation & Nature Park will be closed until 4 p.m. while construction is underway. All work continues to be weather permitting.

During construction, Ward Road will be closed to all traffic in both directions. Traffic will be directed to use MD 2/4 and Brickhouse Road. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area while construction is underway.
The Calvert County Treasurer’s Office reminds citizens that services are operational and offices are open to the public.
 
Customers can continue to submit payments using the drop box (now located in front of the Calvert County Circuit Courthouse), online or by mail through USPS, FedEx or UPS. All checks should be made payable to the Calvert County Treasurer's Office.
 
To pay by phone, please call Official Payments at 800-272-9829. Please have your tax account information available and use Jurisdiction Code 3013.
The Department of Public Safety, Animal Services Division, in partnership with the Calvert County Health Department will host drive-thru rabies clinics to offer free rabies vaccinations for pets. 

Clinics will be held Wednesdays, from 5-7 p.m. at the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter on the following dates:

April 20
May 18
June 15 

Online registration is required. Interested parties can register using the shelter calendar online.
