Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to attend public meetings or can provide comment by dialing in by phone at the published time. To provide dial-in comment, call toll-free 888-475-4499 or 877-853-5257 and enter the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

Primary Election Unofficial Results
Preliminary results for the 2022 Maryland primary elections are up! All results are unofficial until mail-in and provisional ballots have been canvassed and counted and results are certified by the Election Board.

The Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, will host a free tire recycling event for Calvert County residents on Saturday, July 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The recycling event will be held at the Appeal Landfill, located at 401 Sweetwater Road in Lusby.

All tires must be less than 5 feet in diameter and clear of water and dirt. Only 10 tires per vehicle will be permitted at a time, and residents are limited to one trip. No commercial vehicles will be accepted at this event. Proof of residency is required.
Step up to the plate with a challenge to buy and enjoy Maryland-grown and -produced farm products every day during Buy Local Week, now through July 31, 2022.

In conjunction with the state of Maryland and the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission, Calvert County will celebrate the bounty of local agricultural products and encourages residents to take the “Buy Local Challenge” by pledging to buy at least one locally grown or produced item every day during the week.
The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees for cats through the month of July.

Cats of all ages and personalities are available for adoption. Regular adoption procedures still apply. Shelter hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment call 410-535-7387.

The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) seeks to fill three vacancies for the Environmental Commission (EC). The EC advises the BOCC, Department of Planning & Zoning and the Planning Commission on environmental matters; promotes recycling programs, alternative energy use and energy conservation; provides public education through outreach events; and supports other local environmental organizations.
