The BOCC financially committed to provide access to cable internet service to every household, regardless of distance to the main road, at no cost to the customer. Any resident who had cable internet infrastructure installed between Jan. 1, 2021 and Dec. 31, 2021, will be reimbursed for the infrastructure costs as part of that initiative. Reimbursement is for infrastructure costs only and does not include new signups for monthly Comcast service.

Citizens are encouraged to view the Comcast Service Extension Map online to determine if their home or business address is listed on the map. If your address is not identified on the map, and you would like cable internet service, please submit your request through the county website.
The Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Management, will conduct a full-cycle test of the alert and notification sirens throughout Calvert, St. Mary’s and Dorchester counties Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at noon.

The full-cycle test includes a three-minute activation of all sirens within the 10-mile area around Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant.

Citizens are encouraged to be aware of the testing and relay this information to friends, family and neighbors. The testing is conducted to check siren operation and increase public awareness of the alert and notification siren system.
The Department of Parks & Recreation will conduct public address (PA) system testing at Hallowing Point Park and Breezy Point Beach & Campground on Wednesday, Dec. 1 and Thursday, Dec. 2.

Citizens can expect to hear emergency alert tones and a test announcement. The new system was recently installed to notify patrons of important park information and alert visitors in case of emergencies.

PA systems will also be installed at Kings Landing, Cove Point and Flag Ponds Nature parks. Alerts such as weather emergencies can be automated through the PA system and existing county emergency alert systems.
