The BOCC adopted the 2022 Calvert County Land Preservation, Parks & Recreation Plan (LPPRP) on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022.

The Calvert County LPPRP guides land conservation and development of outdoor recreation opportunities over the next five years. The plan sets a vision to integrate planning of the county’s amenities, natural resource conservation, recreation land use and open space. The LPPRP also serves as the basis for the Calvert County Program Open Space Annual Program and qualifies the county to receive Program Open Space funding from the state.

The Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center is currently closed and will remain closed for annual maintenance through Monday, Sept. 5.

The hall will reopen at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

During the hall closure, both lap and open swim will be available at Kings Landing and Cove Point Pools with modified hours.

For more information, including hours of operation and location information, visit the aquatics page of the county website

Looking for lunch plans? Each Calvert County senior center serves lunch at noon, Monday through Friday.

The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter is at capacity and will waive adoption fees for all animals through Aug. 31. Regular adoption procedures still apply.

It’s a great time to visit the shelter to find the perfect companion. With an overabundance of animals at the shelter, we need our community’s support to find these animals happy new homes. Whether folks are looking to adopt, foster or give their time to volunteer, every little bit makes a huge impact.
