Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to attend public meetings or can provide comment by dialing in by phone at the published time. To provide dial-in comment, call toll-free 888-475-4499 or 877-853-5257 and enter the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

Do you need help covering the costs of your broadband service? You may be eligible for the Comcast Affordable Connectivity Program.

 

The Connectivity Program provides a $30/month broadband subsidy to eligible new and existing customers. This subsidy can be combined with the $15/month subsidy provided by the Maryland Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. All you need to do is apply!

 

Eligible households include those with an annual household income at or below twice the federal poverty level and/or if they are enrolled in other federal programs such as SNAP/EBT, Medicaid or Free & Reduced Lunch. With so much agricultural, commercial, residential and wetland areas in Calvert County, it’s easy to understand how permits help residents and Planning & Zoning staff protect your time, space and community resources.


Calvert County permits may be required for many commercial and residential property projects like adding an accessory structure, demolition projects or installing a porch.

Do you still need to register to vote in this year’s general election? The last day to register in advance to vote or to update your voter registration information is Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022. Register to vote online or download a registration form online


Registering to vote in advance expedites the voting process. However, if you can't register by Oct. 18, you can same-day register at an early voting center during early voting, Oct. 27 through Nov. 3, or at an election day polling place. Be sure to bring a document that proves where you live, like an MVA-issued license, ID card or change of address card, or your paycheck, bank statement, utility bill or other government document with your name and current address.

The Department of Community Resources announces the American Rescue Plan Nonprofit Grant Program will offer grant funding to local nonprofit organizations that have experienced adverse financial impacts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonprofits may begin the application process online.


Once an application has been submitted, applicants will receive an email detailing the next steps in the grant submission process. Nonprofits who receive an award from the program will be notified and granted funds no later than Dec. 1, 2022 and must report on use of those funds no later than Jan. 31, 2023.

Bring the family on a drive through Hallowing Point Park to enjoy various Halloween displays.


There will be multiple stops along the way, sponsored by Parks & Recreation and local businesses and organizations, where children up to age 12 can receive a small pumpkin and collect lots of goodies.


New this year will be a vehicle decorating contest! Join in on the Halloween fun by decorating your vehicle for the event. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories to participating families.
