Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to attend public meetings or can provide comment by dialing in by phone at the published time. To provide dial-in comment, call toll-free 888-475-4499 or 877-853-5257 and enter the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

Members of the BOCC attended the Watermen’s Memorial ceremony Sunday, May 15, 2022 in Solomons to recognize Calvert County’s watermen. 
Commissioner President Earl "Buddy" Hance, Commissioner Chris Gadway and Commissioner Mike Hart were present to speak on Calvert County’s rich and diverse maritime history, and took time to honor the county’s watermen and their families. 

The Watermen’s Memorial is located at 14436 S. Solomons Island Road in Solomons.
The Department of Community Resources has an exciting announcement! The Office on Aging (OOA) Division will launch a new Facebook page the second week of June. The new page will serve as a resource for Calvert County’s older adults empowering them with information on valuable services and programs offered by the OOA.
 
The Calvert County OOA has a full range of opportunities and assistance to help seniors maintain the best possible quality of life. We look forward to sharing with citizens on this new platform.

The BOCC celebrated the groundbreakings for two new commercial projects at Patuxent Business Park in Lusby on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. BHE GT&S purchased Lot 5 for expansion of their Lusby operations. The project will include a commuter parking lot for support and operations staff, as well as a 28,000-square-foot office and warehouse facility. This project received site plan approval in March 2022.

In June 2020, John Simpson, Jr., owner/partner of 2J Enterprises, LLC, purchased Lot 11 for construction of a flex space facility. The project is comprised of a 12,600-square-foot warehouse and flex-use space building that will accommodate a number of light industrial uses, with up to half the facility available for lease. This project received final site plan approval in April 2022.
The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees for dogs through Tuesday, May 31. Dogs of all ages and personalities are available for adoption. Regular adoption procedures still apply.

With an overabundance of dogs at the shelter, we really need our community’s support to find these animals happy new homes.

If you have the means to, please consider adopting or fostering one of our animals, and give them the chance to become the perfect fit for your family.
