Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to attend public meetings or can provide comment by dialing in by phone at the published time. To provide dial-in comment, call toll-free 888-475-4499 or 877-853-5257 and enter the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

The Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, will host a free tire recycling event for Calvert County farmers on Friday, April 8 through Saturday, April 23. The recycling event will be held at the Appeal Landfill, located at 401 Sweetwater Road in Lusby.

Proof that tires are from a Calvert County farm is required. Acceptable forms of proof include the tire recycling event postcard mailed by the Calvert County Farm Bureau or Farm Bureau member ID, a tax form schedule F or a property tax form showing agricultural land assessment. The Office on Aging will host a “Stronger Memory” program at Calvert Pines, North Beach and Southern Pines senior centers. The program will begin Thursday, April 7, and is intended to help participants prevent, stabilize or slow down cognitive decline through a variety of writing and arithmetic activities.

During a weekly check-in meeting, participants will receive the following week’s program, discuss the program along with other brain health topics, and have a chance to win a prize. The program will be performed independently at home. Visit online for more information. 
The Department of Public Works will close the roundabout on Ward Road in Dunkirk, beginning on or about Monday, April 4 through Friday, April 8, for final paving and road striping. Ward Farm Recreation & Nature Park will be closed until 4 p.m. daily while construction is underway. All work is weather permitting.

During construction, Ward Road will be closed to all traffic in both directions. Traffic will be directed to use MD 2/4 and Brickhouse Road. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area while construction is underway.
The Department of Public Safety, Animal Services Division, announces the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter will temporarily close on Wednesday, April 6, while staff participates in animal handling training. 

During the closure, animal control officers will be available for emergencies. Non-emergency calls will be addressed on Thursday,
April 7.
