The BOCC is seeking feedback to the Purchase and Retirement (PAR) Fund program. Established in 1992, the PAR Fund program is part of Calvert County’s longstanding effort to preserve agricultural land.

Survey mailers have been sent to all Agricultural Preservation Districts owners with a requested return date of March 31, 2023.

For questions about the survey, please contact Jennifer David, rural planner, at [email protected].

The Calvert County Department of Planning & Zoning announces a new "Spread Your Leaves" program to help residents expand forested areas in Calvert County by planting native trees on their property. Now through Oct. 31, 2023, residents can obtain coupons to purchase native trees at a discount from participating nurseries.

The tree coupon can be obtained through the Planning & Zoning, Environmental Commission website at www.calvertcountymd.gov/TreeCoupon.

Residents will find a list of participating nurseries where the coupons can be applied for $35 discount per tree for up to three trees sized two gallons or larger.

Ready to start that addition to your property? Now you can apply online for your building permit at

https://encompass.calvertcountymd.gov./home.

Through the Encompass portal, you can manage, pay and print permits from your own home or office.

Permits cover a wide variety of commercial and residential projects and help Calvert County ensure that projects are done safely and in compliance with building, construction and zoning codes. Permitting protects you, our community and our natural resources.

Visit www.CalvertCountyMd.gov/Permit for additional information.

Calvert County now uses eRecord and Simplifile! An eRecord is a digital form of the record that makes the record easier to access, reduces storage and improves accuracy.

You don't have to leave the office, use the mail or stand in line. If you have a PC, high-speed internet and a scanner, you have what you need to start eRecording in Calvert County.

The Department of Public Works, Water and Sewerage Division, will be making repairs to the sewer infrastructure at the Solomons Island Parking Lot (first lot), located across from 14430 Solomons Island Road South until April 17, 2023. The parking lot will still be usable, however the usual flow of traffic will be altered due to equipment surrounding the lot's wet well.
