Cane Masters Newsletter
August 2011
|
Greetings!
With the advent of our new website, we are making a commitment to you to increase the number of newsletters we release on a regular basis. There are many positive changes happening at Cane Masters, not the least of which is the creation of our non-profit entity The American Canemasters Foundation. Though we are currently registered with the State of Nevada, we are awaiting our official IRS designation as a 501(c)(3) corporation. Keep posted for updates!
Thank you as always for your support and patronage,
Mark Shuey Sr.

Senior Citizen Day August 21
The Origin of National Senior Citizens Day:
On August 19, 1988, President Ronald Reagan issued Proclamation 5847 creating
National Senior Citizens Day to be August 21. There are many, many other "Senior Citizen Days" on various dates around the world. Many countries local communities and organizations have declared or held senior citizen days.
Click here to see the actual Congressional Proclamation
"So there it is - August 21st (coming up quick) was proclaimed National Senior Citizens Day by "The Great Communicator" - President Ronald Regan. It should not matter if you liked Ronald Regan or not - this is about our Seniors. What act of charity have you done for a Senior lately? And I'm not talking about your Mom & Dad - I'm talking about the old fellow that you cross paths with a few times during the week that might have no one else to call on. What about that elderly lady that you see at the store on Saturdays? Ask yourself this question: am I going to be old one day? Answer for me - I hope so.
Ask yourself another question: Do I believe in karma? Do I believe that I will reap what I sow? Answer for most of us most likely is- yes. Please consider doing something for the Seniors in your life on August 21st. Teach a Cane-Fu class or give someone that can not afford it a starter cane and some bands. Take the time to teach them how to use the cane for excercise and some basic self defense. If you can only help one person then just help one person. Please consider making something great happen for the Seniors in your communities on August 21st this year. Please consider this message with my deepest respect and humility" - Mike Patterson, Wooden Mantis Practical Self Defense Solutions
