News from the CareVention HealthCare Advisory Summit for PACE Executives
CareVention HealthCare hosted its third annual Advisory Summit for PACE Executives on October 29 and 30 in Orlando, Florida. The Summit, which was presented in a hybrid format to allow for virtual participation, featured a session on the PACE Plus Act with Jennifer Baker, Senior Policy Aide, U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging. According to Baker, the act aims to establish a sustainable approach to supporting PACE, including streamlining site approval and expansion processes and improving affordability for Medicare-only beneficiaries.
Other Summit sessions addressed the use of technology to connect seniors with family, caregivers, and PACE team members, along with additional avenues for innovation like mobile health vans, new outreach methods, and social supports. In his session Pivoting During COVID-19: Where Are We Now, Where Are We Going, Daniel Drake, President and CEO of Trinity Health PACE, addressed the role of technology in PACE. “How are we going to care for our participants in the home, in the center, in the community?" he asked. "Technology is on the rise for our type of business, home- and community-based services. That’s one of the reasons I love working with CareVention and CareKinesis® over the years. They’re very proactive, and they’re a step ahead of technology in their business. I think as PACE providers, we need to do that for our programs.”

Other presenters included Maria Zamora, MBA, Chair of the National PACE Association Board of Directors and President and CEO of Center for Elders’ Independence, and Thelma Pittman, MBA, Chief Finance Officer of Cherokee Elder Care PACE. For more information about the CareVention HealthCare Summit, contact your client liaison or account manager, or email [email protected].

CareKinesis Launches New EireneRx® Feature: Multiple Medication Entry

CareKinesis recently introduced a new feature in its EireneRx technology, multiple medication entry, which offers clinicians the flexibility to enter multiple medications within a single form. The new feature also allows batch signing and transmitting of prescriptions, and the ability to view a comprehensive medication request summary. Coupled with the existing ability to manage or modify medications individually, multiple medication entry reduces submission time, streamlines workflow, and increases efficiency. Contact your CareKinesis client liaison for more information about this feature and personalized EireneRx training, or email [email protected].
New Studies Prove Direct Link Between MedWise®, Better Health Outcomes, and Reduced Healthcare Costs

Tabula Rasa HealthCare (TRHC), parent company of CareVention HealthCare, recently announced the results of a three-part clinical study that further validates the association between a high MedWise Risk Score™ and poor health outcomes. The peer-reviewed study series, Innovative Enhanced Medication Therapy Management Model: Medication Risk Score, Medication Safety Review, and Health Care Outcomes, was published in the September 2021 issue of The American Journal of Managed Care®.

Previous studies found that a lower MedWise Risk Score correlated with fewer adverse drug events (ADEs), emergency department visits, and hospitalizations, along with lower medical costs and a decreased risk of premature death. The new studies demonstrate that medication interventions informed by MedWise® clinical decision support tools improve health outcomes and lower healthcare costs when used by certified pharmacists.
